“Excellent, central hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I spent one night at the Michelangelo and was blown away by the service and the standards. Firstly, the best part about it is that it's smack bang in the middle of Johannesburg, you really can't get a better location. The service was friendly and professional and the room was amazing, with views over the city. I had breakfast in the morning, which was really fresh and delicious, including real honeycomb which you could break off and have with homebaked croissants! I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting JHB - it's an excellent option from all aspects.

“Decent, Good Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

The hotel is well located and convenient with the mall attached to it. The services were mediocre and keep informing them of your time of arrival time and time again to ensure that your room is ready. Though they wanted to charge an extra half day charge for a 2 hour later departure, they were unable to provide us with 2 of the 5 rooms booked until 6pm on the evening we checked in. It seems to be a regular occurrence at the hotel and they expect guests to be flexible according to "their convenience". If you'd like to stay in this hotel as a guest.... a paying one, you would not appreciate the apathy they put on display for their guests. The probable only highlight of the stay was the sincere and friendly attitude of the bell boys.

Dear Bj8four

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay at The Michelangelo Hotel. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies.

We do try to ensure that all rooms are available on arrival, however this is dependant on availability. We however guarantee that rooms are ready by two o'clock in the afternoon for check-in. I would really appreciate it if you contact me direct so that I can investigate why your two rooms were only available at 18:00pm in the evening.

In regards to late departure, we are flexible as we do understand that some flights depart late in the evening but once more it is really depandant on availability.

We appreciate the time you took to share your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the future.

Warm Regards,

Jason Mulligan

“Needs some improvements”

Excellent location, generally good service and friendly ambience. The hotel has allready a few years, and that is evident in the rooms where carpets and furniture needs to be renewed. This hotel also needs a richer breakfast, little variety and juices should be much better.

We have recently turned 15 years old, so we do understand that there are some nicks and scratches, but we are in the process of amending these.

“premium 5 star hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

we had 2 connecting rooms since i was travelling with my family. hotel location is great since it is connected to sandton city which is a huge mall with all your needs. you need approx. 3 days to get familiar with all services and shops in mall. must try their steaks in nelson mandela square since south africa is very famous in exporting steaks and wines. many attractions inside cinema halls, coffee shops, games, famous shops and all you could ask for. hotel is comfy and staff are very helpfull.it is a top class hotel with excellent services.
try food in indian resturant it is tasty.

Room Tip: book thru famous travel sites. choose rooms facing nelson mandella square.

“AWESOME EXPERIENCE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

This time, it is Johannesburg. I stayed here in Jan 2012. I can say only one word about this hotel Äwesome, Grand, luxury at its best". I stayed last time in Michelangelo Towers and the same was before Soccer Tournament. This time, i was in Michelanglo Hotel near to Nelson Mandela Square. Breakfast is above average but not great. I had a room upgrade and room, bed and bathrooms were luxury. Internet speed was disappointing as it was taking very long for mail download. Given an option, I would have paid extra for high speed. Food is not a problem as there are a number of restaurant in Nelson Mandela Square so what ever your choice, Italian, Thai, Indian ENJOY it.
