“Superb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Stayed here for 7 nights in june, and it was absolutely brilliant. Easily reached by car from Cape Town International in 30 minutes, it is situated in Newlands, a suburb of Cape Town, so the location itself is not that interesting. There is a large shopping mall nearby, but a rental car or using a taxi is essential to get somewhere. The hotel is a combination of old historic character and new great amenities, like their pool and fitness area. The service was impeccable, upon arrival we got upgraded to a room with a table mountain view. We couldn't wake up any better than that. We got our breakfast included, it was served in a very beautiful dining area (the Square restaurant) with a glass roof. The breakfast was superb, the best breakfast I have had in any hotel. Just so much to chose from, beside that they offered menu items not displayed on the buffet, so you could get exactly what you wanted. Specialty coffees we're also served during breakfast time. The room itself was large and the bathroom as well. The beds were comfortable (I thought they were Sealy beds), and the hotel offers a great turn down service. We had two dinners in the Square restaurant of the hotel, both reasonably good, however the second time a starter was served cold, where it was supposed to be hot, after telling the staff, they instantly arranged a new starter and a free dessert, for the both of us, a very good solution. Every hotel makes mistakes, however it really shows quality and service when it makes a mistake, but comes up with an adequate and fast solution, without having to ask for it in any way. That is called true customer service and The vineyard has it! By the way, their 7 course dinner with wine pairing in their famous restaurant Myoga, topped everything. It honestly was the best dinner we've ever had. We would advise to skip the Square restaurant, and only eat at Myoga, when you have the chance.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Table Mountain

“One of my All Time Favourites”

When you are blessed with a location in the shadows of table mountain, stunning gardens and the tranquility of this beautiful corner of Cape Town then shame on you if you do not earn the right to be there.
The Vineyard does this and more , beautifully complimenting its surroundings with tastefully decorated public areas and sumptuous rooms. Awesome food, brilliant friendly service and an ambience that makes this feel truly like a home from home.
Never let it go , please.

Room Tip: They are all good , but the garden rooms are divine.

“The place to Stay in Cape Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This by far is the place to stay in Cape Town. It has the most wonderful view of Table Mountain and is walking distance to a great mall. The rooms are wonderful and the pool is to die for.
The breakfast buffet is wonderful and service could not be better. Stay there and enjoy!!

“A lovely location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This hotel is lovely and is certainly a place to relax and indulge. The main plus for me would be the size of the pool area and the attentiveness of the staff. Unfortunately, I feel the staff in the restaurants and bars are not as accommodating and when it's busy, they seem very stretched. My partner and I waited for 15 minutes in the bar for service until we gave up and went somewhere else. The rooms are slightly outdated and did feel a bit UK 'Travelodgy'. Having said this, the hotel is nicely done (although too many fellow Brits for my liking!) and the garden area is beautiful. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're a young couple or on honeymoon because it does feel a bit middle/ old aged.

“Not quite as charming as before”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We loved this hotel when we first visited two years ago; and still like most aspects of it. It is a great location for the city, Constantia, Kirstenbosch, Table Mountain etc. The gardens are lovely, the food is good [Myoga, the separate reataurant is excellent], the staff charming and efficient [except in the bar where they are amazingly slow and make watery cocktails]. The rooms are comfortable with a great view.
However as it has expanded the hotel has lost some of its quiet elegance. The breakfast restaurant is loud and clattery; the beautiful terrace had, on a Saturday, tables overflowing onto the lawn with large loud parties of people; the pool seemed to have tripled its sunbed numbers, so one lies in serried ranks. On several occasions we couldn't get a seat on the Terrace for a drink/snack. Success seems to be bringing its own problems.

Room Tip: Go for the Mountain view.
