Only booked a month or so before the World Cup due to an itinerary change. The staff were easy to deal with and friendly. The hotel is boutique in style and feel but modern in operations. The location is good, being 'suburban', but secure and near to downtown Sandton (5mins drive). The included breakfast was good and the room was spacious even for 2 adult males. Would definitely recommend.

What is going on here? Search Quartermain, Johannesburg get very sad reviews. Better to call hotel Quartermain Premier Boutique Hotel and hey presto! same address but much better reviews. Looks fishy. I didtn stay at this hotel just wanted to bring this to your attention

Please keep your money with you at all times here, or use the safe. Housekeeping came to my room while I was at breakfast and stole money from my bag. This hotel seemed honest and a safe place to stay, but they saw me taking a long breakfast and decided to strike. I did not expect room service to come so early. The manager promised to investigate but we never heard a word back from them.

Hidden in Sandton, not an easy-to-find hotel as it will not appear in most typical search engines. I spend 75% of the year travelling around the world because of business, and definitely the ones at the The Quatermain have been one of the most suprising stays in my whole "business life".

Servce is excellent, the environment is calm and peaceful, and the cuisine of The Quatermain's restaurant, Sel et Poivre, is just one of the best in South Africa. And this is not just "my honest opinion", but also American Express (the restaurant has been given the Platinum Award), Diner's Club (the restaurant has been given the Platinum Award) and many other associations / entities - by the way, Sel et Poive was rated as one of the top-100 restaurants in south africa. Mains are between 10 USD - 20 USD.

If you're staying in Johannesburg or Sandton, don't even hesiate and go for another option - The Quatermain is the place to stay. I've been in many other hotels, even from famous and top-rated chains, and there is no comparison that can be made.
