The rooms are larger than average with a small kitchenette in a cupboard which is great if you are staying longer than a night or two as you can buy and heat up food. Very convenient with Rosebank Mall just over the road.

Had two single beds in my room - prefer a double bed but it was a last minute booking... Staff are pleasant and the breakfast has all the usual to cater for full and continental.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Have mixed feelings. We booked 2 two bedroom and 2 single bedroom units for a group of 10 adults and 3 children. So let me just dive into my review-

Pros

1) Very helpful and friendly staff.
2) Best location. Cross the road and you are in Rosebank Mall. The only better location than this is Holiday Inn.
3) Decent rooms.
4) Clean toilets.

Cons

1) If you book two bedroom apartment, then individual rooms don't have AC. There is just a centralised AC in living room. So if you don't get powerful AC, you will end up feeling hot (which is what happened with me). Out of 4 units we booked, only one had good AC and they could not fix the bad ACs.
2) Not so clean towels. The batch we got in our room was smelly.
3) No lift/ elevators. For youngsters not a problem, but if you have knee problem or family with strollers, then climbing up and down stairs can be problem. Thankfully, its just one floor.
4) Cleaning lady put the cap of dustbin on one of our luggage bags while cleaning.

If you are not a big family, would recommend Holiday Inn.

Room tip: Ask for a ground floor unit (preferably closer to reception) which has good AC. If you are couple, better off with one bedroom unit compared to two bedroom because of the AC issue.

Thank you for staying with us and for arguably the most comprehensive review we have ever received on this platform. We’re glad you enjoyed many aspects of your 10 day stay with us, but we can see that there is room for improvement on our part. We understand your frustration about wifi. It has taken longer than we expected to upgrade our offering – this is currently happening and we hope to have a much better wifi service available from early in 2015. We will certainly look into your comments about the need for variety in the breakfast spread. We’re also chuffed that you found our staff friendly and witnessed our I’m Kind day in action – the aim is definitely to extend this attitude to all days. Thanks once again for your review.

The hotel is nothing special but just what you need. Spacious room and can be semi self-catering as it has a microwave and fridge. The hotel can be reached by the Gautrain and is opposite the Rosebank mall. Complimentary coffee and tea in the room. The hotel is not in one building but spread out over a large are with two storey rooms. For the price good value for money. A functional hotel room.

I booked the Courtyard for a group of Canadian and US friends for the Johannesburg leg of their South African tour. I cannot speak highly enough of the service we received.
Some highlights:
-- An exceptionally friendly staff.
-- Comfortable rooms at a reasonable price, thanks to a bulk discount and the hotel's very competitive weekend rates.
-- Happy Hour in the lobby and around the pool each evening, with free drinks for all.
-- Very convenient to shops, restaurants and the Rosebank African market.
-- We asked the hotel for packed lunches on the day of our departure. For just R110 each, we had enough food -- and a nice variety too -- for both breakfast and lunch. The luxury game lodge we stayed at provided a much more skimpy assortment at a significantly higher cost.
All in all, I highly recommend the Courtyard.
Thank you Natasja and your staff!

The location of this hotel is the reason it can get away with it's prices. The rooms are rather plain and run down, though clean. In my case, it was also a long walk through the parking lot to get to breakfast or the pool. Ask for a room facing the back of the hotel because those towards the Main Street get a lot of street noise. The thing I liked most was the location across from the Rosebank Mall and the free parking, but it definitely lacked charm or atmosphere.
