“Oasis in the Desert”

We were there in September 2010. It was essentially a large motel spreadout in the middle of nowhere. You do not have many choices if you want to be close to Monument Valley. Nevertheless, it was quite good for an overnight stay and clean. All your basic needs were there, dining facility, computer access, gift shop, pool, coin laundry etc. Staff were mainly locals and were friendly enough. I'll be happy to stay there again.

when we first arrived, it wasn't very welcoming at all. the staff didn't seem to be interested. however, when we got to our room, we were slightly surprised. it was a basic hotel but the room was big enough with two beds and a decent bathroom. there was not a lot of choice in the area. We didn't eat or swim at the hotel so can't review those amenities. What we did do was go to burger king to get free wifi across the road.

“Plan ahead so you don't have to stay here”

We recently drove from the Denver area to Sedona. We thought we could easily get a room on a Thursday night in September. This was not the case. We ended up staying at the Kayenta Inn. We were promptly told they only had 5 rooms left and they were all smoking rooms, came with nothing (no breakfast, etc) and were $150 plus. We drove to the Hampton Inn to find they were filled up and promptly drove back to our smoking room. Too bad really - the room could be really nice. The brick walls gave it character not usually found in this type of lodging. We planned ahead on our way back from Sedona and booked a room before we left in Mexican Hat, Utah. Cheaper and no smoke smell.

“Cannot cope with large numbers of customers”

This hotel is owned and managed by the Navajo people. As such, there is no alcohol allowed on the reservation. We went for dinner in the restaurant. It was chaos. Staff didn't really know what they were doing. We eventually got sat at a table for four with two other people whom we didn't know. Other tables were then later filled around us and they were given menus, but not us. While still waiting to see a menu the waitress started taking orders from the later-seated tables until I complained. We were then given menus and were able to order. We both opted for the Native Lamb Stew. Both came (eventually) with plenty of vegetables but absolutely no lamb at all. We were unable to complain as the staff had disappeared. It was also a struggle to find anyone to give us a bill in order to pay for the meal. Our room was pleasant and comfortable. Breakfast next morning was also chaos with huge queues. We were quite lucky to beat most of the queue by being early but some people in our group gave up and went back to their room as they simply didn't have the time to wait.

“What a Dump! Avoid this Hotel!”

Had I read and believed all the other posted reviews I NEVER would have stayed here.We arrived about 5pm, checked in and went to our room, which was in a separate building.
Opened the outside door to the hallway and immediately smelled a nasty odor, best descibed as a mixture of mold-sweat-urine-smoke. Got to the room....same smell. I had requested a Non-Smoking room. Obviously they had just converted Smoking Rooms to Non via signage.
I called the main office and told them the room smells. They offered me another room.
Really not that much different. They sent a maintenence guy ahead of us to turn on the A/C.
Clever trick to mask some of the smell.
BTW: We were on the 2nd floor and the windows were screwed shut. So you couldn't get any fresh air.
The whole place needs paint and new carpet through out.
For the $200. per night screwing they are giving you... they can afford it.

***Stay at the Hampton Inn if you go to Kayenta! Make reservations EARLY. They fill up and the only other hotel in this [---].
