“The wow factor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2012

We have been pleasantly surprised by all the B&Bs we stayed in in South Africa but the Christiana Lodge really had the wow factor for us when we saw our room. The design is very modern, with his and her washbasins, a lovely bath and a big walk-in shower which my husband said is the best he has ever used. The Lodge is only minutes away from a lovely long sandy beach. There are also views from the rooms over the wetlands. Very quiet with the only sound being the breaking of waves on the beach. Staff very good and helpful. Recommendations for restaurants also good.

“Satisfactory but could be better for price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

We really looked forward to staying at the Christiana Lodge from reading several reviews but were actually quite disappointed. The Lodge is at least 10 minutes drive from town but is within walking distance of an excellent beach. Parking is good and secure. For us the design of the building was poor. Lots of flights of narrow dark stairs - first from the parking area to the reception and then three more for the room we were given - were difficult for taking cases up and a bit depressing. There aws nobody available to help with carrying cases when we arrived. The room was very large but finished in minimalistic design with white walls and no pictures. I am sure some people would like this but to us it seemed dull and clinical. There were extensive windows but the views were not actually great of the ocean. A major concern for us was that there were only louvre blinds at the windows making it very bright early in the morning such that we had to buy eye-shades. This was the only guest house we stayed at which did not have airconditioning and this was a problem on one of the nights when it was extremely hot. The quality of guest houses in South Africa is generally so high that one expects a lot from them and sadly this was the only one we stayed at on this trip which we would not return to.

Room Tip: I would take a room on lower level as views are not particularly good higher and not worth the added...

Christiana Lodge was designed by one of the best architects on the Garden Route. It is situated in a select suburb of Plettenberg Bay between Robberg Beach and the Brakkloof Wetland. Robberg Beach is a 5 minute walk away and the distance to town is only 4,5 km.
The rooms are spacious and luxurious, fully equipped, designed with great attention to detail and uncluttered as the pictures on our website clearly reflect. The room referred to has a beautiful view over the Brakkloof wetland, as mentioned on our website.
Our rooms do not have air-conditioning as we'd like to be as environmentally-friendly as possible. There is also always a breeze from the sea in the evenings. This summer was exceptionally hot and should there be a demand, we will certainly consider installing air-conditioning in some of the rooms.

“Extraordinary!”

We stayed at the Lodge from the 2nd to the 4th of January 2012. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Upon arrival we were given information brochures about things to do and see in the area (of which there are too many to mention). Two days is way to short to explore this wonderful area. The most beautiful pristine beach is within walking distance from the lodge. The highlights of our trip was zip sliding over waterfalls in Tsitsikamma and Monkeyland. The rooms at the Lodge was breathtakingly beautiful and stocked with tea, coffee and a bar fridge. Everything was spotlessly clean and in working condition. The breakfast served at the Lodge was fit for a Princess. Every single item and produce used was fresh and/or home made. My boys in particular loved the cinnamon pancakes. Never have we visited a Lodge where we were treated like Royalty and yet felt so at home. To Christa and her wonderful staff, thank you for an amazing holiday, we will certainly be back.

“Simply Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Travel weary when we arrived, the moment owner Christa welcomed us and showed us to our stunning room we knew we were in for a treat. Exquisite design and superb friendly but very professional service to match are the hallmark of a perfect experience. Delicious breakfasts served on the terrace we're followed by help with local knowledge, where to go to eat and table reservations.
The location is much better than it first seems, quiet, private, just behind an almost private beach approached down a hidden broad walk, miles of soft sand, rolling surf, few people. Unspoilt bliss.
Go for a superior room with balcony or terrace if you can.

“Lovely b&b/chalet with great service and pool located around the corner from the beach”

We stayed at Christiana Lodge for 3nights.the b&b/chalet is located in the southern area of Plettenberg with 5mins drive into town but also around the corner (not on) from the (from our point of view best) beach in à calm residential area.

The lodge has à great pool, offers excellent continental and english breakfast, very serviceminded owner and super room cleaning staff.wifi is available but functionality came and went.
Our room was spacious, very modern with lovely details especially in the bathroom.it got à little warm at night but apart from that all good.

Highligts:
1/the miles long beach à few blocks from the lodge.beautiful and not at all crowded
2/restaurants in the area which lodge are happy to help you book.we liked emily moon the best!
