The San Marcos is a nice hotel, and benefits greatly by it's location. Within short walking distance is downtown Chandler, with a handful of excellent dining or social gathering options; Sushi Bar, Italian Restaurant, Steak, San Tan Brewery (one of the best around), Wine Bar, Sports Bar and an Irish Pub. The hotel itself is an older build style, but it is comfortable and he rooms are clean and quiet. Staff was very attentive, and the resident golf course is nice and convenient. A great location for a business traveler who likes to have a beer after a busy day at work, or for people who don't like to drive far from their hotel (lots of local shops too).

Entering the lobby of this hotel raises hopes and expectations. It's gorgeous - very ornate with beautiful, glossy hardword floors. Really plush and very nice front desk staff. Then you drive your car to the back of the hotel and enter a musty, run-down, worn room. Fortunately, I arrived late in the evening and only slept there 2 nights. I did not need to spend any time in the room which is fortunate because it is not designed for any comfort and it didn't smell the best.

To sum it up, not sure how a hotel with such a beautiful lobby reconciles its poor room conditions and amenities. Something as simple as the toilet paper and 'kleenex' left a lot to be desired - very cheap and low quality.

Our daughter was married (not @ hotel) and out of town family members stayed here. Fantastic! staff was very friendly, pool area was good. Very close to restaurants, shops, and bars. We had the Presidential Suite and it was great. Large enough for everyone to meet and party. Catering was a little pricey.
Pet freindly too.

we have stayed here every year at christmas to get away from all the chaos .... the beds are so wonderfuly with super soft bedding ... sheets have got to be 500+ thread count ... pillows are not horrible but not great. Top of the line toiletries. Staff very nice. Just remember to make your reservations for Saturday night prime rib in their restaurant days before check in ... very popular place ... missed it this time
