I had notified Carol several times that we would be arriving in the early evening and had asked for a confirmation that it was fine. However, when we arrived, she had mixed up our reservation and was unable to give us the room she had confirmed earlier for us. She did give us two rooms instead. However, I was traveling with my elderly mother, and it was very disconcerting to my mom that we would be two floors away from each other. Carol rushed to give me very specific directions how I was responsible for locking up the house when we left at 8 AM and exactly how to lock up three separate doors and exit through the garage, although she said the bed and breakfast was full. She seemed very scattered and disorganized, asked me if I was trustworthy, and made me feel like I was imposing on her by coming to stay on a Sunday night. My suggestion is that she should not rent rooms when she has to teach the next day.
The rooms were fine, although the downstairs room was quite cold and there was no thermostat or accessible heat source to adjust. The other problem was the "continental" breakfast, which consisted of small boxes of cereal, juice boxes, yogurt, store-bought danishes (some wrapped in plastic), and two apples for the whole house! I was surprised, as I had read some reviews that stated the breakfast was so excellent.
The location is beautiful, but I'm not sure I can recommend this property unless Carol rethinks her priorities as a bed-and-breakfast proprietor.
