We have stayed here a few years ago and were pleasantly surprised to see the rooms have all been upgraded, new carpeting, linens and bathrooms. The rooms are large and functional. We were lucky to have a room facing the harbor so we could watch boats come and go and also the sea otters playing about. The hotel is located right in Valdez so everything is within walking distance. It is also located next to the Stan Stephens Glacier Cruise excursion, a great day trip. The breakfast was just average but the restaurant was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I gave this hotel a three star only because it is an older hotel . We would stay here again!.

We stayed at the Best Western hotel i Valdez based on reccommendations from our friends, We were less than impressed at the accommodations. The restuant at the hotel was over priced based on our and other reviews. No Name Pizza was a great place to get a decent evening meal.

Typical good quality chain hotel. Clean rooms. Good breakfast in lobby. Great location by small boat harbor. Although they cater to tour bus groups, we, as independent travelers did not feel overwhelmed. We had a problem with a chamber maid who serviced the room while our son was still sleeping. We brought it to the manager's attention. They took it seriously and compensated us appropriately. Hotel is walking distance to Dock Pt. hiking trail where eagles abound, and there are stunning views across the water.

My Dad and I stayed one night at the Best Western in Valdez. We found our room clean and modern, with comfortable beds and nice furnishings. The lady at reception reccomended driving out to the fishery to watch bears fishing for salmon and the salmon spawning which was fascinating to watch (although I won't be eating salmon for a long time!). From the road, we watched black bears across the stream fishing which was one of our highlights of our Alaska trip.

Breakfast was okay, the breakfast room was too small and was a little crowded. We had dinner at the pub which was yummy fresh halibut and fries. Valdez was one of my favourite places to visit.
