How they have the nerve to call themselves a B&B I don't know.

The hotel is ugly and rundown, the wireless barely made it to our third-floor walk up room, the bathrooms are borderline nasty, the room is cold (they forgot to put a little plug-in heater in it, so they told us to come get one from the front desk, which is an office desk on the inside of the front door), and there was a tiny, tiny TV. But it had cable. And finally, the floors, walls, stairs, etc. aren't straight and true anymore.

You unwrap your breakfast like at a mid-level motel chain.

This place is about as un-cozy as it gets. I usually take pictures of the places I stay but if I showed photos of this place to friends, they'd embarrass me (both the photos and the friends).

I'm hoping to shame them into remodeling this place - if they did, they could make some serious money and make travelers happy.

We stayed at the Downtown B&B for one night only. The staff was friendly and the room was nice.Wish they would had at least offered us an early breakfast as other B&Bs do with their clients. We had to be at the ferry at 4:30am, therefore we missed the breakfast since it was only served starting at 6am. While talking to others in the ferry their B&B provided them with breakfast even though it was early in the morning.

I only used this B&B because I could not find accommodation elsewhere for our 1 night stay in Valdeez.. I read all Trip Advisor reviews before booking so I was not expecting too much and sadly Downtown B&B lived up to my low expectation. At check in it felt that they 'could not be bothered' with us and the room on the second floor was dismal and dowdy with brown stains all over the ceiling. The whole place looks shabby and is in need of a full restoration.
On a more positive note the location was great for the ferry terminal and the breakfast was OK.

IF you are expecting a traditional B&B, this is NOT it. It resembles a run down motel. Location is great and there are apparently some decent rooms, but ours was not one of them. We were in room #2, I think, which was on the ground floor of the left hand section of the buliding as you look at the front. The room was marginally clean, damp and musty smelling with a window that had a torn screen. Leaving the window open invited unwanted insects and noise but was necessary at first to get a bit of fresh air in there. WiFi did not work at first - it did, with a very weak signal, after I complained about it. Breakfast was about what you would get at most chain motels in the lower 48. The only good thing is its location. It is right in the middle of Valdez within a short distance of the ferry terminal. The price was only a little less than other accomodations that appeared to be much nicer. Even with the possibility of better rooms available, I would definitely not gamble on this place again.
