“As good as it gets!”

What can I say, "Roses" was our first stop and introduction to Alaska and Valdez and it was just the best. We stepped out of the taxi ($12 for 2 from town), looked over the wildflowers in the garden to Prince William Sound and the mountains (with glacier!) beyond. Beautiful, like a postcard. We went inside, Rose wasn't there to greet us but had left a welcome note, put on the slippers inside the door, and were greeted with soft music, beautiful decore, a lovely cosy home and that view out of the big picture windows. We made ourselves a cup of coffee, stepped out onto the balcony to see a black bear below, it doesn't get much better than that. Rose is a hostess extroadinaire, nothing was too much trouble. Her breakfasts were amazing, yoghurt and fresh fruit/berries, eggs as flans, quiches, souffles and then to top it off "crumbles" and "crisps"! All this just for brekky. It is a couple of miles out of town, Anadyr who we did our kayak trips with did a pick up drop off service, but you may want to think about car hire for a bit more freedom to get around. Its an easy walk from town if you dont mind the risk of running into a bear or two! We had 4 nights with Rose and were really sorry to leave her, what a special lady. If you're considering Valdez, you wont do any better.

“Absolutely wonderful”

We stayed at Wild Roses for 5 nights while visiting our son who was a sea kayak guide this summer. The house is beautiful with many Asian accents. Gorgeous views from the living room which is open to the guests, Lots of books about Alaska, Valdeaz and things to do. Our room looked over the Sound. We went to sleep to the seagulls calling. No other noise!! Abby her dog is very calm and friendly. The breakfasts were the best we have ever had a a B&B. Rose clearly changes the menu and tries new things. There was plenty to eat, we usually we able to have oa very light and or late lunch. And best of all, she invited our son for breakfast on the two days he did not need to at work early. How generous of her!!! Rose was very helpful suggsting places to go, things to do and was very knowledgable about valdez. She even loaned a book on Denali to our son. The home was very clean ( one reviewer complained of this) and we did not feel dog hairs were a problem - and we don't live with a dog. If we return, we will definitely stay with Rose. So much better than the Best Western which is pretty spartan and doesn't serve breakfast.
We got so much more from our stay with Rose than staying in a hotel. We left with a new friend.

My brother and I spent two nights at Wild Roses by the Sea while we were halibut fishing in Valdez. Rose is delightful, informative and makes a great breakfast! We really enjoyed learning about the Valdez area from Rose. If we go to Valdez again, we will be staying at Wild Roses by the Sea.

“Home away from home but better and with a view!”

We stayed with Rose from Saturday to the following Friday. Rose wasn't home when we got there but left a warm informative letter inviting us in, telling us where everything was and to enjoy her home. We did! She had hot water for hot chocolate, tea or spiced cider as well as coffee made and waiting. We were in the Canyon Suite which had a beautiful view from a big window. The shower/bath area was large and very nice. The room was very comfortable with a TV and little couch. The rest of her home was just as nice. Leaving your shoes in the enclosed porch, you enter the living room, dining room and kitchen. The view from her living room and dining room is postcard perfect. She has binoculars for you to use but lounging on the couch staring out the window while sipping a cup of tea, is just heaven. Rose makes you feel very comfortable in her home and you can come and go as you please. The resident pup, Abbey, is so sweet she takes your mind off missing your own own furbabies at home. My husband was in Valdez to fish and each morning Rose prepared him a bag of goodies for the boat. She had a to-go cup for coffee ready for him and he was really happy with his breakfast bag. I was treated to Rose's awesome breakfasts. She really puts out a spread of delicious breakfast items from breakfast casseroles to fritattas. Always fruit and some fresh baked bread. Breakfast is delicious and there is more than you can eat. A lot of B and B's have nice accommodations, great breakfasts and lucky to have a good view but what makes this B&B stand out is Rose. She does everything she can to make you feel special with special treats in your room to many other things. For instance, she saw we had bottled water in our room to take our evening pills with. When we returned, there was a pitcher of water and two cut crystal glasses. Her wonderful personality makes you feel like you are staying with friends and you can't find a nicer place to stay or nicer person to stay with. I would give her 10 stars if I could. She is a very special person that will make your stay a memorable one. When you leave, you will not only made a new friend but if you ever return to Valdez, you will know where home is-----at Wild Roses by the Sea!

“The best stay of our 2 week trip to Alaska”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2010

During our 2 weeks in Alaska our most enjoyable stay was definitely at Wild Roses By The Sea. We never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before and loved this experience. Rose could not have been a better host. She went above and beyond when it came to hosting. She gave us great ideas and advice on dinner, hikes, sightseeing, and much more. Each of the two mornings she made a fantastic breakfast of homemade muffins, breads, eggs, fruit salad, and again much more. We stayed in the sea view room and it was very nice. The room had a television, sitting area, comfortable queen bed, and a large private bath across the hallway. If traveling to Valdez there are not many lodging options and staying at Wild Roses would definitely be the way to go.
