My family of four stayed here for one night in late July 2011 as we toured Alaska. Check in was no problem and our room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was not the largest hotel bathroom that we have seen but it was adequate and it was very clean with good supplies. The hotel, overall, was very quiet and it was in downtown Valdez and central to everything.

The best part of this stay was the very good breakfast that was included in the room price. Prepared oatmeal, eggs, very good biscuits and gravy, plus a good selection of breads, muffins, coffee and juice were all available. Breakfast started at 5:00 AM to allow plenty of time to eat before catching the early morning ferry. This hotel is only a 3 minute drive to the ferry terminal and was a very convenient place to stay to catch the ferry the next morning.

We spent 2 nites at the Mountain Sky Hotel while in Valdez. Valdez is not a fancy place and neither was this hotel but it was comfortable and clean. The free breakfast was a bonus and quite good. I used the laundry room and some (half) of the washers & dryers weren't working but I was able to get my laundry done with no issues. The location is convenient and within walking distance of restaurants, grocery store and most anything else you might need. I would stay here again if visiting Valdez again.

Valdez is a beautiful little town and this location is excellent. The staff are helpful with any request. The hotel internet is a bit shaky and I hope they improve the speed.

This hotel has been remodeled, and they are continuing their upgrades. The rooms are good sized, the price is a good value, the lobby is comfortable. From the outside, it looks like a dive, but don't let that fool you. It has an indoor pool/spa... and the the front desk staff and bellhop were very gracious hosts. It is centrally located, and although not right on the water, it is within walking distance of the Whitney Museum, which I also highly recommend, walking distance to the water, to the salmon spawning grounds, and basically anywhere in "town".
