We spent one night in Tok on our way to Alaska. We have booked a room in A Mooseberry Inn, more than six months ago based on the Trip Advisor reviews. This is a family run very small B&B hotel. The owners are Damon and Maggie. When we went there, we found it to be exactly like a house. There was no one in the house except a note addressed to me, attached to the front door. The letter asked us to make ourselves comfortable and occupy our room which is called the Moonberry room. I was with my wife and daughter and needed a room for three people. The only room that had two double beds was the Moonberry room.
The note further said to help ourselves to all the food and drinks in the fridge and the table. We felt like we were visiting a close friend, rather than going to a hotel. There was a cookie jar full of home made cookies and the fridge had milk and fruit juices. We could make fresh coffee using the kettle in their kitchen. There was a big backyard, but we found there were lots of mosquitoes when we were outside. The only rule we had to follow was to remove our shoes and keep them inside when we entered the house. We met Damon later in the evening.
Our room was very compact, but nicely decorated. The bathroom and the toilet were very clean. Damon brought an extra set of towels for our use. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well.
Next morning, both Damon and Maggie were there to greet us and serve us with breakfast (a delicious and healthy omelette, sausage patty and yogurt). Both Damon and Maggie are working and come home late in the evening. That is why they were not available when we checked in. There are only five or six rooms available in this very friendly place. If you are passing Tok in Summer, I recommend you to book this place in advance and make sure rooms are available. I would love to stay in this place again.
