“A really good holiday”

Just back from a week's winter break at this hotel and have to write what a good experience we had.

The flight by Thompsons was very good, despite not having any entertainment and limited catering, the crew were very attentive and caring.

We had an excellent room - ground floor facing the pool - the main pool is heated to a good temperature (28 degrees), plenty of sun beds and no selfish reserving them.

The hotel caters for a mainly European clientele, so the food reflects this - please don't go there hoping for just "English" food. We had a varied selection of food every day - fish, chicken, beef etc, cooked in many different ways. In addition, they always had a carvery dish and a freshly cooked barbecue meat on offer. There were lots of different salads, cooked vegetables, fruit and desserts.

The coral reef was amazing, with its wide variety of life - fish, clams and octopus.

We had some cold winds, but it was fairly easy to find a sheltered spot, when it was windy.

The staff were superb - always smiling and friendly and willing to help.

There were shows most nights as well as a singer in the bar area.

Altogether a very positive experience and I can't wait to go back another time.

My husband and I had a lovely holiday here and found it a great break away from the rat race. The hotel was really clean, staff were genuine and helpful, and the food was lovely. We are hoping to stay here again soon.

“If there is anyway to go in Egypt to relax, this is the place!!!!”

May I just start by saying 'what a place'. Me and my newly wed wife came here on our honey moon and the best way to describe there hospitality to us was that we where treat like royalty. I cannot find one fault with this hotel or its staff it was truly an amazing experience.
The Marsa Alam airport we was in and out really quick, they don't like to keep you in the airport too long. We was 45 minutes from leaving the plane to arriving to the hotel.
On arrival to the hotel we was greeted with a glass of juice, a warm flannel, an envelope with all our room info and keys etc in it, bell boys to take our cases to our rooms and we was then given a small tour of the hotel before being shown our room.
Our room was cleaned everyday, there where no smells and the hotel as a whole was so hygienic.
The air conditioning in the room was spot on and kept the room nice and cool which was a real delight after spending most of the day out side at 45 degrees C.
The Food was phenomenal, so much variety from so many different cultures and if there was still nothing to your tastes then the chefs would happily whip something up for you with no arguments. The drinks where also fantastic, again such a variety, and all so tasty. The lager for me was just like European larger and the wine for my wife was just like a real nice branded wines and I need say any more about the cocktails.
The pools where amazing, nice and clean with plenty of sun loungers and was open for most of the day. Employees of the hotel would constantly walk around the area to make sure you had no problems and if you did they would correct them with no hesitation. Also they provide a towel service which means you get a ticket per person on arrival to the hotel and you take this to the towel guy next to the pool and he will give you a clean towel and you could then change that towel for a clean one as often as you like through the day then you got your ticket back.
The beach was no more than a stone throw away and what an amazing beach it was, lovely beach booths right along a cove of the beautiful Red Sea a true delight to have such a magnificent view from the comfort of your own resort.
The hotel is situated on a large complex about the size of a small village with 4 hotels on the complex. The complex has its own shops, entertainments, market place, shisha bars (which you have to try in Egypt), restaurants and free water park there is no need at all to leave the complex.
We went an a days excursion into the dessert to visit the Valley of the Camels and to experience a totally different culture to what you will experience on the complex. The people who live in the desert are truly remarkable people who have my up most respect by the way they live there lives in the desert.
Marsa Alam also has one of the best sunsets I have ever seen it is really beautiful and you can sit mesmerised either on your lounger or in the pool just watching the sun go down.
We never had any problems with bugs or mosquito's or even any type of animal it really was controlled.
To summarise our Honeymoon it was definitely a time to remember and we will definitely be returning, you will not be disappointed with this resort at all, we certainly wasn't.

“Great family getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We have just spent 2 wonderful weeks over X-mas and New Year in Lamaya Resort. We are a family of 4 with children aged 2 and 6. We traveled with Swedish Fritidsresor. (TUI)

The rooms were spacious and clean. The pools were heated and the quiet zone was apreciated by sun lovers wanting silence. The baby pool was spacious enough for many kids at the same time and separated for baby and toddlers and the entire area was sun protected.
All 3 pools out of 4 were heated wich avoided one crowded heated pool like in many other similar hotels.
The animation team was very friendly and activities such as aerobics, beach volley, watergym, evening shows etc were on the daily menu 6 days out of 7.

Every evening there was a mini disco that our kids loved and after that there was a show but very often we were too tired to attend the entire thing. One should not expect Broadway, the team is trying their best with existing means :)

The entire staff is friendly and service minded and work hard and very long hours and worth to tip when satisfied.
The X-mas buffet and New Years Buffet totally blew our minds, it was spectacular and the details and preparations were absolutly fantastic! We have many higher rated hotels to compared it with! It was fantastic!
The hotel management is putting a lot of efforts for residents satisfaction and are present on the field. Many small attentions during the stay proved us that.

The food is buffet style everyday and came with more variation than expected. Every evening there was a different BBQ dish outside the main restaurant. My husband who generally always suffers the first days in exotic countries didnt have a single stomach problem during the entire stay. And it s good to know that there is a clinic inside the hotel with a doctor on site every day and a pharmacy just outside the hotels reception area.

Just across the street from the Lamaya there is a waterpark free for hotel residents and that was the favourite spot for us and our kids, we all had fun and all pools were heated there as well.
Down on the beach front there is a Diving center and if you are not a diver, I strongly recommend a try dive as the corals are just magnificent and the instructors are very professional.
Snorkling is fantastic and water was warm enough to snorkel for 30 min without chills...The bay offers a great walk and breath taking sunsets.

If i have to pin point something negative it would be the wine....not so good and tasted soda water but mainly the so called "spa". It is far from a "spa"! It is a fitness area with 2 massage rooms....The staff seems to be working on comission which can turn out wrong sometimes...Judge my surprise when in the middle of a massage they take in a man to start his massage next to me! Prices are ridiculous in relation to what you get out of this "spa" and i seriously question if the therapists actually are schooled to perform massages....My friend had a nerve blocked during 3 days after her massage...They dont seem to realise the power of mouth to ear during a week on a resort like this....if customers are satisfied they would be recommending the massages to others...if not happy then no pitch will help to get more clients.

The weather was superb the first week and windy the second week but temperatures always around 22-24C and sea water around 21C thanks to the laguna shaped bay.
It is important to know that Marsa Alam seems to be a completly new resort area surrounded by desert and rocs. We wanted sun and sea and thats what we got. for the ones searching nightlife or urban areas this is the wrong destination.

We would return and i would recommend this resort as a family friendly hotel. You get what you pay for and a bit more i would say.
