“Terrible service and deceiving "all inclusive" offer - Beware -”

In our 3 weeks trip, we planned to stay the longest at this hotel :( (big mistake). First of all there is no beach, the only way to enjoy the water is from the marina, which is very deep and rough sea. On top of it, the "life guards" from the hotel don't even swim....
The AC in our room didn't work properly and we have "technicians" EVERYDAY trying to fix it, which never happened... When we asked for a fan -to help move air- they looked at us as if we were asking for the moon... of course it didn't happen.
Hotel grounds are vast but they don't even have a cart to transport luggage, one of our friends' suitcase was ruined when they dragged it on the cobblestones. (no one cared..)
We were convinced that is their "marketing plan" to ensure you CAN'T enjoy the facilities. The front desk is far and up hill from the rooms; and they "stopped understanding" English as soon as a problem was mentioned and ALWAYS you needed to call back in 30 min...
We paid extra for a "higher" all inclusive package, which only gave alcohol BUT for that to be used, was either at the restaurant (not open 24/7 - just by schedule) and at the beach bar, then the glasses they give are the smallest plastic cup in the market. not only that, If you want a drink at the marina IS NOT INCLUDED, neither is room service.
Food was mediocre and the vegetables were used next day for salads... eewwww. Flies everywhere... we all got sick and were suspecting the water at the restaurant was not mineral water... the bottles looked old and dirty... Bottle water was NOT included either (of course)...
We were NEVER able to connect to Internet at the hotel, have to call a taxi and drive, at least 15 min, to an internet cafe... NO one cared..
We ALL were VERY disappointed, to the point of NEVER returning to Marsa Alam.... maybe there are great hotels there, but we will not take the chance.... they ruined Marsa Alam reputation for all...

Room Tip: Don't go to this Hotel!!!

“Horrible”

Who say it's old? It looks like it was new or at least renovated even before Mubbarack got the power. Last time thoroughly cleaned? Not in this century.
Food is not good? No way! It's junk, absolute junk two steps from being poison.
Everything here is just horrible and dirty.
We couldn't stay here, spent 2 hours and run away.

“Great Diving Instructor”

Did my PADI at the age of 53 there. Thanks to Emanuele - "Lele" - it was a great experience. Lots of knowlede. lots of patience, lots of skills! And a very charming Italian accent that more than once made us smile. Most recommendable teacher!! The Hotel itself is ok. Buffet is getting boring after 3 days but the rest is ok. Beach spacy and never a problem to get a chair and umbrella. pools also ok. Because of the Russians though the management took away amenities like coffee maker out of the rooms and gives torn towels - so nothing will be stolen!

“not very good”

Rested at the "BEST WESTERN SOLITAIRE RESORT 4 * MARSA ALAM, from October 12 to November 2, 2010 Was promised a free high-speed internet WI-FI in all public areas and rooms of guests. Internet WI-FI worked only at the reception and then very slowly. At the reception we are confident that in two days of the Internet will work everywhere, but we stayed at the hotel 21 days, and the Internet in the room and not earned! Bed linen is changed only on request. This is of course little things - but unpleasant. Everything else like it - especially the sea and its inhabitants.

“Better than aveerage egyptian 4 star”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

Well having read a few reviews of this establishment after having booked it I was a little aprehensive. All I can say is we were more than pleasantly surprised. The hotel is located about 40k's south of the Airport and about 25k's north of Marsa Alam town The room was booked as superior with sea view on an all inclusive basis via On the Beach. The room was first rate and very spacious with a fantastic view of the sea. The saff in the hotel were exceptionally helpful and freindly especially as being English ( most of the clientel are Italian as mentioned in other reviews) allowed them to practice their english on us. For a buffet style restauraunt the food was better than OK with a good choice and something freshly barbequed at dinner. Drinks were plentiful even the wine was passable which compared with other trips to Egypt where to be frank it was undrinkable.

The beach is fantastic and well provisioned with parasolls and sunbeds and well attended by the staff the only small drawback is that the sea has to betered by the jetty beyond the coral reef which is spectacular for snorkelling . We didnt dive this time but there is a very active dive centre in the hotel who can arrange trips etc. Overall very good value for money and I would throughly reccomend it. Actually having a population of mainly Italians is really a blessing, they are much better behaved than the average brit
