“What a wonderful week”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I have just returned from a week at the Coraya Beach (2 - 9 Feb) and have never felt so pampered and well looked after in any holiday hotel. From the moment you arrive in reception where you are given a welcome drink whilst you fill in the paperwork to the moment you leave you are made to feel very special and nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff.
You are given a quick tour of the hotel layout on the way to your room where you will find your bags waiting outside the door. On return you leave the bag outside your room and it is collected and stored until your transfer departs for the airport.
I was in room 1112 and loved it. Very quiet and near to the sea with a large balcony to enjoy the view. It can be very windy by the sea but for me hearing the sea whilst you lay in bed was worth it, there is a window next to the bed so my first view of the day was the sunshine and the sea. Wonderful. The gardens are amazing and very well kept by the army of gardeners who are always around.
My room boy Ahmed looked after me very well and I had a different towel sculpture on the bed each night which is something I have never enjoyed before.
The food was great with lots of choice at both breakfast and dinner with a different theme each night, I was half board so didn't see what the lunch buffet was like but I am sure it was of the same high standard. I used the Palmito beach bar to get a sandwich if needed during the day just a few steps away from all the beach umbrellas and loungers.
I was constantly amazed and delighted by the little extra touches the hotel provides, one night I came back to my room to find a fragrance stick another night it was a little bowl of mixed nuts and lastly a bag of hibiscus tea to take home. Around 4pm each day waiters come round with trays of bite size snacks, just one mouthful of deliciousness but what a lovely treat. The staff are brilliant everyone smiles and says hello and makes you feel that they are glad that you are here. The phrase "it is from me" is one you will hear often but I won't spoil that surprise.

The Thomson rep Arvita was very helpful when I wanted to book some trips. I wanted to go on the shuttle bus to Al Quesir and she was a little worried that a woman (of a certain age) on her own as I am would be rather intimidated so arranged for the guide to show me around. That worked perfectly and I really enjoyed the visit. I also went to Luxor this was a very long day but well worth the effort because it was amazing but don't forget to take a pillow you will need it. I ordered a packed breakfast and late dinner and arriving back after 10pm expected some cold meat and salad but was served a delicious three course meal of salad, hot main course and fruit to finish. Another of the thoughtful touches the hotel provides. I also went on the Super Safari trip which is a 4x4 off road experience with quad biking and camel riding too. I didn't try the quad biking but I loved the camel ride, and the buffet dinner and entertainment afterwards were both very good too.
A wonderful week thank you Coraya I hope to be back soon.

Room Tip: Rooms near the sea can be very windy

“Lovely Hotel”

Took a quick week’s break as had some time to spare and loved this hotel immediately. Booked in with the Pharaohs club which meant you had the all inclusive option where they asked how many beers you would like in your fridge and how many pillows. Unfortunately Egypt is not good with spirits and can only really mix cocktails and I had a struggle finding one I could drink and eventually just drank coke. They even came on the beach during the day and polished your sun glasses. The entertainment team were excellent and the evening entertainment was Egyptian. The food was very good even by Egyptian standards. I have recommended this hotel to many of my friends as one worth staying in. The bay is excellent for snorkelling no need to go diving to see the tropical fish.

“fabulous!”

Had a fantastic holiday at his hotel. It's really luxurious, room was grea (was ground floor but could still see the sea). Was really good to have a little kettle and tea and coffee in room.

We stayed half board, the food was amazing, lots of vegetarian, and also nice to have some traditional Egyptian food as well as other types. Lots of lovely vegetables, pulses and amazing puddings. Breakfast buffet was also huge and very good. We went for the snorkelling which was really good, water was bit chilly so hired some shorty wetsuits from the hire place on the beach . The reef right off the beach is excellent and also snorkelled over to the reef on the opposite side of the bay. We saw turtles, octopus, lionfish, a sea snake, cuttlefish as well as all the other beautiful angel fish, parrot fish, surgeon fish, trigger fish, wrasse, snappers, huge shoals of mackerel swimming with mouths wide open. Went on a boat trip to 2 nearby reefs, booked through the guys in the wetsuit hire place. It left from port Ghalib, great reefs, saw lots of turtles, crocodile fish, and dolphins from the boat. We were cooked a great lunch on the boat. The hotel wasn't that busy, may be the time of year. It was a bit too chilly to sit outside in the evening, but lovely in the day. We saw the animation show once (that was enough!).
Thus hotel is perfect if you just want to relax and snorkel, there's nothing outside the hotel, unless you go on trips so be prepared for this. The drinks were slightly expensive by Egyptian standards (£3 english pounds for a beer, £7 for a cocktail), but they have you as a captive audience so it's to be expected. I've been to Egypt lots of times, but this was the nicest hotel I've stayed in anywhere in the world. Very good value, not hassley as the beach is private, beautifully kept gardens, friendly staff. Buy your visa from the bank counter as soon as you get in the airport, it's cheaper than getting it from your tour company.

Room Tip: our room was 1705, at the back so we had a sea view, nicer than looking over the pool

“Fantastic Holiday”

Just returned from this hotel, after a fantastic two weeks. Everything about this hotel was great, from the friendly, helpful staff, at all levels, the cleanliness of the rooms, the restaurants, the pools and pool areas and the beach. The quantity and quality of the food was excellent with always a varied choice. There were no stomach upsets while there and none brought home with us. This was our third time at Coraya Bay, but our first at this hotel and by far the best. We are already planning for next years visit.

Room Tip: Try to avoid sea facing rooms as they can be a bit breezy
