Visited for Sunday dinner during October Half Term 2011 as recommended in Good Pub Guide. Friendly staff and the food was so good decided to return on the last day of our holiday. Unfortunately made mistake of not booking and even though we arrived just after restaurant opened both bar and restaurant were full. Fortunately the restaurant manager (Irish girl whose name I can't remember) remembered us or should I say our 4 yr old son who had obviously made a good impression upon her on our last visit. She knew some locals who would be leaving after a couple of drinks, approached them and not only did we get a table in the bar for dinner had a great chat with two very friendly gentlemen. Again the food was excellent and we were so impressed at the service we received on both visits. Highly recommended and would always return if in area again.

This is a favourite eatery. Always good food with an interesting menu. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The prices are fair and the presentation is up there with more expensive restaurants. We would always choose to go to 'The Golden'.

Having just returned from a fantastic weekend I feel compeled to write a review on this place. We arrived on the Friday night and were greeted by the owner, a lovely lady who made us very welcome. A pint in the traditional bar before sitting down for dinner, the choice of local dishes was endless, the service exceptional and the food, delicious! Rooms were to a high standard and bathrooms very modern. Breakfast was delicious, we asked for a selection of welsh dishes for lunch and these were spot on! Another beautiful evening meal was to be had before sampling the selection of whisky's and brandy's that are on offer. The whole weekend was thouroughly enjoyable and the Golden lion couldnt come more highly recommended.

Stayed whilst on business and had a really pleasant stay. Lovely clean, comfortable rooms and the added advantage of quality freshly cooked food in the inn. Good value and really switched on, friendly and efficient staff. What more could a weary traveller ask for? Locals happy to chat at the bar and this only enhanced the good vibe that surrounds this place. I would definately stay here again if in the area... I would even return for a short break with the family and pets as they allow dogs in the bar too!!
