After searching for a place to stay on the island including looking at reviews on trip advisor I chose the Raira Lagoon and was very happy that I did. The place was newly remodeled in the summer of 2009 and they did an outstanding job. Raira is located close to the airport and a short distance from 2 restaurants and one of the grocery stores on the island. Bikes are available for getting around or you can rent the vehicle they have. The rooms are very nice, clean, roomy, just steps from the beautiful lagoon waters. The atmosphere is very relaxing. I booked the breakfast and dinner rate. Breakfast consisted of breads, fruits, jams, juices and coffee or tea. Dinner was an outstanding 3 course meal usually with fresh fish as the main. The appetizers at times were a meal in themselves. J Fred was an outstanding host, who speaks very good English and will readily assist you with any tours or diving you want to do. I would highly recommend Raira Lagoon to anyone wanting to visit Rangiroa.
