There are three cabins built on a hilltop location. It's a dirt road up a steep hill to get there, another Alaska adventure. We stayed in a two-story cabin, with two bedrooms upstairs, and one bathroom downstairs. We arrived late one afternoon and it was raining so we didn't get to see the Denali mountain view. Still the cabin was homey and we had some room to spread out. There were books and videos about Alaska national parks, board games, and a notebook of local information and menus. There was a futon sofa to sit on and a small TV to catch the news and weather. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate were available in the kitchen. We could have stayed two nights, easily, as it was very comfortable and relaxing, more like a small home than a rustic cabin.
But the online travel agent booked us only one night in Talkeetna so we could go on a flightseeing tour of Denali. It was raining, so we declined to go on a lower summit flight tour of the mountain that was offered. Still we we enjoyed the town of Talkeetna. It's cool, though filled with tourists in summer. While there be sure to visit the Historical Society Museum, particularly the building that houses a large scale model of Mt. Denali. It has interesting displays about the history of mountaineering in the area. A National Park ranger who spoke when we were there led a fun game for visitors to be part of a team climbing the mountain.
Anyway, you won't be disappointed with staying at the Traleika cabins.
