“Comfortable motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Room: The room (we stayed in unit 17) was quiet small compared to other NZ motels, but still an adequate size. The bed was large and comfortable, with electric blankets.

Cleanliness: Everything was very clean and in working order.

Facilities: The kitchen had excellent equipment, including sharp knifes and non-stick pans - the best kitchen equipment that we had in a NZ motel.
The bath was a spa bath and the shower was very powerful.
30mins of free WiFi included in the room rate.
The motel has a gym, sauna and spa pools, although we did not use these so could not comment on their quality.

Location: The location is good - it is approx half way between the Junction and the town centre and both are a short (approx 10min) walk away.

Staff: The management were very friendly and helpful in suggesting activities to do during our stay.

Overall: This is a good value motel with excellent facilities, which was very clean and comfortable - recommended.

Thanks for your review.
Just a note that you were in a studio which is the smallest option, with kitchen, bathroom and a queen and single bed.
For those wanting more space we do also have one bedroom units available, with a lounge as well as queen, single beds, double foldout sofa bed, and bathroom and full kitchen.

“Warm, quiet and has everything you need”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

We stayed for 2 nights and had everything we needed. The management were friendly and had put the heat pump on in our room ready for our arrival. The beds had electric blankets and were very comfotable, the kitchenette had everything we needed and we had a spa bath plus the shower had great water pressure. We enjoyed the outdoor spa (only 1 was working properly and are only open in winter 3pm-9pm) and the drying room dried our wet gear fine. We didn't use the sauna or gym. It is a short drive to shops and mountain road. We are looking forward to staying here again.

Room Tip: Spa bath is by request

“Nice Motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

We stayed here for two nights for our ski trip. It was clean and modern and had good facilities. There are two outdoor spa pools, one sauna, a gym, and a drying room. The room itself was clean and had a nice 32" flat screen, cooking facilities, a shower/spa bath (not in all rooms, we requested a room with one), and was warm.
Our nights sleep wasn't the greatest as it is on one of the main roads so there was a bit of traffic noise. We live in the country so are not used to this, so we are probably just sensitive to it.
Shops and restaurants are a five minute drive away and it is in a good location.
The managers were very nice and friendly and helpful.

Would stay here again, and would recommend. :)

“Modern, spacious and very comfortable.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2011

Many of the rooms opened onto a grassy area and had picnic tables. Again we found the management very friendly. The internet was very good value...a free half hour and the 24 hours for $9.50. It was a ten minute walk into the town centre which had good supermarkets, shops and an excellent tourist info site.

“a delight and everything we needed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2011

We booked here for one night and enjoyed it so much we stayed three!! The unit was large and very comfortable, super beds and pillows, and a nice kitchen area fully appointed with modern equipment. Nice big french window, looking out onto the grass. Full amenties available, laundry etc. .....great for a break during a long trip.

James and Jenny (new owners) were so helpful and accommodating for all our queries, and were very knowledgeable about the surrounding area, giving us suggestions for walks and daily adventures. Nothing was too much trouble. They both hike regularly ,so know the paths and tracks well. The motel itself is a good 20 mins walk from town, but this is very pleasant if you walk down the riverside path. The plus side is that it is near the station and not far from the start of the road to Ruahepu Mountain trails.

We just wishes we could have stayed longer... it was like home from home. We left feeling we had stayed with old friends.
