This stay was booked on an 'all inclusive dine around basis' which gave excellent value when combined with Royal Club Rooms - This is a top package but saves considerable charges from individual venues which could be very pricey if ultised outside of the packge - I give some examples below. Its only dowside is that the chioce of drinks is extrememly limited - altho most items were of reasonable quality.
Reception was excellent, with Royal Club Check in on 15th Floor - clear and concise instruction on the resort. Room was available at 1000am. Checkout was done at main lobby desk but equally efficient. No errors in billing. Very arly checkout, and a full breakfast was provided in room at 0515.
Rooms are stamdard pretty much thruout hotel, all with sea views and most with balconies - Royal Club are higher and said to be better apointed. Most of what you would expect from first class hotel but strangely no shower hats. Good bed, large bathroom with separate efficient shower and separate WC/Bidet area. Toiletries good quality. MiniBar chargeable - even for all inclusive.
Royal club lounge serves snacks/soft drinks all day with Tea Time feature. Also free WiFi which is chargeable in rooms but if you login at lounge this ports you to main system which becomes free until you log out and so defeats the object.
Astros Bar on 20th Floor is available on all inclusive for just one hour a day (7-8) but serves good amuse-gueles with drinks. Care: 4 large spirits (between 2 people) free during this period but otherwise billed at about GBP 90,-. Beach and pool Bars - standard.
Taste Restaurant is flagship and also serves a la carte breakfast for Royal Club residents - superb at breakfast and Diner with huge Thai menu. Highly recomended. Swaad Indian restaurant (evenings) a bit of a curates egg - One very good meal and one poor one. Gonu Beach Restaurant generally good but too windy/cool while we were there - open lunch and dinner. Main Views Buffet restaurant standard international buffet with themed nights - generally better than an average buffet - but very crowded at breakfast.
Staff were generally very helpful, even charming and friendly - always a smile and assistance.
Pool and beach facilities are excellent, but here a word of warning. The heavy oil/tar problem is a daily occurance (and sitting on the straits of Hormuz will continue to be one). This unfortuneate, not the managements fault (they do their best with free baby oil and wipes) but do not warn about it - which is ostrich like. I would still recomend the hotel for a beach holiday but advise against swimming in the sea or walking the beach between High/Low water marks. So use the beach for sunbathing and the pool for swimming. We did not use the Gym.
A final note, it passes my wifes health check on providing low fat spread, yohhurt and soya milk.
