We stayed at the Hotel Club Dorya 15 years ago (1994 & 1995), so for my husband's and my joint 60th birthday celebrations we went back there this summer with our children (and grandchildren). The hotel's position is unbeatable: on a semi-island attached by a causeway to central Datca, it has the most stunning view and its own rock terraces for sun bathing and swimming. It is a rather classy 1930s building, with a salt water swimming pool and a potentially beautiful garden. And you can walk across the causeway straight into central Datca with its marina. Sadly, since 1995, it has been neglected: the bedrooms need attention, in particular the grotty carpets should be taken up and ceramic/stone floors renewed and the not-working fridges replaced; the garden needs attention, specifically weeding and watering (they water the parts more visible to the general public), as there are wonderful plants/flowers but they are being drowned out by weeds (in 1994&5 the gardens had the daily attention of a full-time gardener). However, in our view, there is no hotel its equal in Datca; because of its position it catches the prevailing off-shore breeze and so rarely gets too hot and the view is out of this world, as I've already said. One advantage of its run-downness was that there weren't too many people staying there (mainly Turks and the odd German), so we had the sun terraces and the gardens largely to ourselves every day, but maybe it was because we were there during Ramadam! It was anyway very reasonable (100 Turkish lira per room per night, roughly equal to GBP40)
