I have now stayed at these apartments several times with family and friends separately, and always find that Rose, Emrullah, Fatih and family do their utmost to make sure you enjoy your holiday. Rose is a typical Turkish mother; always making sure you are comfortable, have enough to eat or drink and genuinely wants nothing more than for you to have a great holiday. She's also lovely to sit down and have a cup of cay and a natter with!
Emrullah (Rose's husband) speaks very limited English but don't let that mislead you; he is a really nice man and an excellent chef having owned his own restaurant in Dalyan for over 20 years. He's now in charge of the kitchen having semi-retired. If you try to learn a few words of Turkish, as with other locals, he seems really chuffed!
Fatih speaks excellent English and seems to know everyone, which is handy if you need a trip arranging, to get in touch with someone, or generally any local advice.
There are around 15/16 rooms in the Hotel spread across 2 buildings; the first building is the older one converted from their family home so the room layout can be somewhat quirky. There are several one bedroom apartments (in the new building) which can sleep up to four but really are best suited to couples - one double bed & two sofa beds. Having spent 2 weeks on one of the sofa beds we decided on our next visit to upgrade to a 2 bed apartment which was much better (2 of us travelling, one in the bedroom and me on the sofabed). Sofabeds aren't uncomfortable as such for what they are, the problem is more the lack of space if you're there longer than a week as they are in the living room/kitchen.
2 bed apartments are much bigger, the ones in the newer block are purpose built as apartments so are better laid out and more modern & therefore are our favourites out of the 2 bed types.
there is also one 3 bed apartment which is huuuuge and is my favourite apartment, plenty of space, separate living room, separate kitchen, fireplace, the works! It runs the entire first floor of the old building but bear in mind that, as it's in the old house, it's not as modern as the other block. This apartment is very well furnished, the only thing I don't recall which would have been useful was a kettle but other apts have them so you could probably just ask Fatih and he'd get you one. Also good to know that the door to the second bedroom balcony doesn't quite close properly but is tied closed with a bit of rope... but hey, it's Turkey! And seriously, the hotel is secure and the family are always around so I've personally never found security an issue in 6 visits. There are also 2 hotel dogs, one of which yaps when the gate opens, so this helps! Usually one of the family is asleep in the bar/reception area waiting for guests to arrive from late flights too.
Overall I've always enjoyed staying at the apartments and whilst it isn't luxury all-inclusive, the family make so much effort, the facilities are just what you need and Fatih has a good eye for the furnishings etc in my opinion these factors bump it well above other hotels in its class. If you want to stay at a family run place and really feel part of the family, and can accept the little quirks that come with a family run establishment as opposed to a soulless multi-floor hotel, this is the place for you.
