“Mediocre hotel but I will definitely visit again...”

Arriving at the Kediri Rail Station in early morning, we simply hired a 'convertible rickshaw' to reach Hotel Merdeka.
The hotel is fairly simple but they have employees with very good manners.
They also have a lovely koi fish pond with waterfalls and a bridge that connects front building (lobby, receptionist, restaurant) with back building (rooms).
So, choose a Deluxe Type room at the 1st floor with fish pond view.
Do not forget to bring a lot of koi food... ;)
Bedrooms (including bathroom) is also quite simple but it's very clean and neatly arranged.
There is not many option for breakfast but everything was tasty and delicious.
The rooms is quite cheap;
Rp500000/night (+-US$54.35) Deluxe Room w/ Breakfast
Rp350000/night (+-US$38.05) Deluxe Room only
And there are still Standard Room with a much cheaper then Deluxe...
So, when I came back to Kediri, I would definitely stay here again :)

To Hotel Owners:
- Please give more pillows at the rooms (two per room is not enough),
- Keep all the original features, or better yet replace your modern room equipment with equipment that does the same function but with an antique-look,
- Can you make a waterways for air conditioning so the room back terrace is not always wet and tarnish,
- How come there's no scrumptious Brotoseno Coffee at your hotel??? :p

Room Tip: Deluxe Room at the 1st floor with fish pond view. 123, 125, 127, 129, 131, 133 (have nice back terr...

“Small but valuable hotel in Kediri”

Hotel is clean and cheap. I love the bridge and fish pond between front and back building, which we can feed the hungry fish. My room was facing the pond, so I could take some pictures of it. Staff are friendly and helpful. My colleague tried massage (pijat refeksi) but he didn't satisfied since the lady who gave massage just touching -not pressing- his body ^_^. About breakfast, two thumbs!! I will stay in this hotel again next time.

Room Tip: Faceing the fish pond

“great hotel with a great garden”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

This is a very nice hotel. The garden with the bridge and the fishes have an Japanese look which is really nice. The rooms are good and clean.
The breakfast was good. You can choose for an international breakfast with scrambled eggs omelets and toast or an Indonesian breakfast with rice, fish and meat.

The hotel has the look and service of a 4 star hotel and it has he price of a 2 star hotel.
$ 20,- a night.

The air con worked flawless. The pepper steak was my favorite. The disco adjoining was fun. The staff was perfectly friendly. I wish I was there now. Relaxing.

“Colonial Style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2008

This hotel is the last one that remains intact of a Dutch Colonial chain that had hotels in most major ciites across Java. As such it retains a lot of colonial charm and should be of anyone interested in Indonian history.

The original building houses reception and the restuant and bar whilst the rooms are in a sligtly more modern building to the rear.

The rooms are well-furnished and and offer all modern amenties like cable-tv and mini-bar. Sadly they don't retain any original features, however.

Service in the hotel was friendly and the restaurant offers good food which is reasonably priced.

All in all, I would highly recommend the hotel especially as it is only 200,000rp per night including breakfast.
