We travelled from Valdez and arrived late afternoon at Paxson Lodge which is located at junction of Richardson Hwy and Denali Hwy. This is a rustic building and sure many a tale has been told over the years, if only the walls could talk. Our room was located upstairs and bed and bathroom was clean and nicely presented. The furnishings were basic, wifi and our room was cosy but adequate. I would like to mention the bed linen was of the best quality we had anywhere on our travels. Beverages were available downstairs. There is a bar, bistro and a decking where we sat and quizzed the staff of their surrounds. The staff were very accommodating and shared local info on where to explore. Hi five to T&L (staff), what champions wearing many caps attending to the bar, bistro and assisting mechanically to all hours. We mentioned if there was any sign of the Northern Lights could they wake us and sure enough, a tap at our door early hours of the morning and there the lights were beaming and swirling. We thought we were so very privileged to have experienced the Northern Lights during our travels this will always be a special memory for us. Our stay at Paxson Lodge was a budget room with a memorable experience.
