The lodge is clean and well set up for its purpose. Nothing fancy. The setting is on the shore of Cook Inlet and there are spectacular mountain views across the Inlet on clear days. There is a commercial fishing operation off the beech in front of the lodge. The staff are polite, friendly, and accommodating. The food is excellent and plentiful. The fishing guides are knowledgable, friendly, and fun to visit with. We caught lots of pink and silver salmon and halibut. The trout fishing was not as good as expected and apparently surprisingly below the norm according to the guides. The Lodge itself is not remote but sits amongst a few residences and businesses. Soldatna is a small town but has a lot of resources and a few decent restaurants. It is roughly halfway between Homer and Seward so it is an excellent location to explore the Kenai peninsula. The fish processing shop did a great and timely job with our fish and they arrived in Tennessee well frozen. We plan to come back.
