“Why are they even in business?”

As residents of Alaska and former residents of Juneau, we are familiar with hotel prices in Alaska and the normal quality that these prices afford. However, we felt that the price of our stays at your Juneau Super 8 on July 2nd and July 10-13 were outrageous considering the service that we were delivered.

Our experiences include the following:
*Requesting to pay cash at check out, and when checking out being told that our card had already been charged instead.
*Having to yell and pound the counter to wake up the help in the back room who was quite obviously sleeping, in order for my dad to check out. She did not apologize.
*Being told by the girl at the counter, upon our second check-in on July 10th that she was unable to put a note in the computer for us to pay with cash at checkout, and then another girl on July 11th being able to do it quite readily.
*Having to "renew" our room key EVERY DAY after noon so that we could enter the hotel and our room between July 10th and 13th.
*Requesting two additional pillows and, despite only 10 cars in the parking lot, being told that only one could be found. (Why couldn't one be taken from another room? Why aren't there more "backups"?)
*Hair in our bed sheets.
*The safe in room #219 did not work.

I would like to compliment the hotel that our shuttle drivers were very friendly, and helpful when we asked to use the hotel freezer for our fish boxes. It is also in a great location, with the Breeze-In (24-hour market and liquor) right across the street.

“BED BUGS!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2011

We checked in on 1/5/2011. The staff was very friendly. We brought our suitcases up to the room, then went sightseeing. We returned at about 5P.M. My daughter and I were relaxing on the bed, only to find bugs crawling all over her and her suitcase. I immediately pulled back the bedding and saw bed bugs in both beds. I phoned the front desk and the employee came up to check. She changed our room and I asked how to get rid of the bugs. She instructed us to wash our things in hot water. I asked if she was going to pay our laundry costs. She gave me $2.00! We needed 2 washers ( that was all they have) at $1.00 each, then we had to buy detergent and dry the clothes. $2.00 wasn't enough. I took all my daughters clothes while she took a shower and sat in a towel waiting for the clothes to be done. She threw up over the disgust of the situation. When I was in the room waiting for the clothes to dry I was phoned by the front desk complaining that I was using the machines and not leaving any for any other guest! There are only 2 washers and 2 dryers! I took our clothes out damp, and returned to our room so my daughter could get dressed. My daughter's new coat got ruined, since it shouldn't have been washed, but we didn't have much choice. We then took our stuff and said we wanted to check out. Spending a night here was out of the question. I was then handed a bill for $80.50! I said I could not believe I was being charged for the stay. I was told to call and speck to a supervisor the next day. I figured I would get a refund on my credit card, but to this date I have not! We then went to find a hotel to stay at. We stayed at the Extended Stay hotel, which was a lot nicer and only $15.00 more. I was afraid I was going to contaminate their hotel with the bugs. We washed our clothes 3 more times, as well as putting our suitcases in the shower to kill those as well. Because we couldn't wash our shoes, we both felt like we may still have some crawling into our clothes, etc. The rest of our trip we were constantly fearing we had not killed them all. Any itch was making us inspect our bodies. It has been a horrible experience. I only hope that we did not carry any of them home and now my home will be infected. The staff was friendly. I will say that. I understand that bedbugs are a problem. I guess it could happen even in the best hotels. But to be charged for the room, asked not to occupy all the machines ,and be given $2.00 was an insult that I can not forgive. If you want to stay at this hotel, be sure to pull back the bedding before you bring anything in the room! It sure would have saved us a huge inconvenience., and the cost of a new coat for my daughter!

Again as stated to you in your last comments on January 6th, this was a isolated situation. Bed Bugs are brought in by guest and are very hard to detect. I would again like to assure you that we have taken care of the issue, and I have spoken to all of the staff so they are aware of how to handle and prevent this from happening again.
The charge you received on your credit card was in error, I have refunded that charge and it should be back on your card. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact me directly.

“BEEEED BUUUUGS!!!!!!!! BED BUDS INFESTATION!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2011

we planned to stay four nights but didnt even make it through one. (good thing too). relaxing watching tv when we realize there is little "bugs" crawling on one of pant legs. We start to look around, lifted up the sheet and they were crawling everywhere!!!

We called the front desk, they came up and barely looked surprised (as if this has happened before). The lady assigned us a new room but decided it was time to GO!

Before we left we had to wash every article of clothing we packed and scrubbed ourselves down with soap and very hot water.

The machine was a dollar per wash and a dollar to dry. We felt the hotel manager could at least compensate us for our washing and drying fees...we were given two dollars.

Then, the manager had the nerve to ask us to hurry because another guest needed to use the washer! Completely inexcusable!

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED!!!! BED BUG CENTRAL!

At our Super 8, we are guided by one simple commitment, Clean Accommodations and Friendly Service. Our Clean and Friendly promise is designed to make you feel at home during your visit to our property, and clearly in your case, we fell short of this promise. I would like to apologize again for the poor condition of your room.We are taking steps to ensure that all rooms are inspected and exceed our standards before we rent a room to a guest, as per our policy. Bed bugs are a difficult pest, as they are generally carried by other guests and hard to notice until they infest an area. Once we were made aware of the issue, I immediatley had that room treated and we have carefully checkede all the other room on property. This was isolated to just the one room. I have reviewed our standards with our Head Housekeeper and the rest of the staff on how important it is to ensure that we are providing the most clean and comfortable accommodations. I have also counseled the staff related to the proper way to handle such complaints should this situation ever occur in the future.

“Very Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2010

When we arrived home we realized that we had left the charger cord of my husband's razor in the room.
We called right away and they told us that they had found it.
They would mail it to us. But we never received it. We called them several times. We talked to the manager and she said she had mailed it and that there was nothing that she could do.
We have our name and address in their computer and we gave it again to the manager over the telephone. We have a simple name and address.
We lived in Alaska for 25 summers and we never have had a problem with the mail.
We really do not believe it that they took the effort to send it to us.
We had to buy a new razor and we are still waiting for the Braun razor cord. We like to warn you to check your room when you ckeck out because they will not take the effort to return the item to you.

I do apologize that you did receive the charger in the mail. After finding out the cost to ship priority mail you wanted me to ship it regular mail without insurance on the item. Without having tracking or insurance, there is little I can do about finding out what happened in the shipping of the item. I do want to assure you I did personally ship the item and I wish there was something more I could do to find out what happened with the shipping.
Thank you,

“A Disaster Waiting To Explode With Pepper Spray!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

So we booked this motel for one night only seeing as everything else we called was booked. It's in the middle of nowhere with a McDonalds next to it and a superstore down the street which I guess could come in handy. However, the rooms are disgusting!
It looks like a prison cell and as if no one has ever cleaned the place! The people working there looked liked they were high, and we even saw a bunch of drunks sitting in the hotel lobby acting, well, drunk.
We never spent the whole night there because some a*****e sprayed pepper spray all over the hotel! Turns out it wasn't the first time that this has happened. Obviously, we got our butts out of that dump and went to a different hotel down the road (Travelodge) which was absolutely brilliant as compared to Super8.
