This was definitely not what we expected and nothing like the picture on the Westmark site where we booked the room. It is the smallest hotel room we've ever been in. You couldn't walk past the bed without having the chair completely pushed in. From the shower you could reach across the toilet to the sink. There was no fan in the bathroom. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The odor in the hallways was definitely unwelcoming here. We will not stay here again and would not advise others to try it.

I don't believe that there are any four star hotels in Juneau and this one is one of the better that I would give three stars. We enjoyed our stay and would go back.

The first positive thing we can say is that it is in a good location, close to down town attractions and cruise liner terminals, but far way enough so that it wasnt noisey or congested.
The room we were allocated was large and faced the mountains and back streets of Juneau. The room had 2 huge comfy double beds ,a large walk in wardrobe and comfortable lounge and chairs in it.The bathroom was alittle small but well appointed.
Our room was clean and well maintained.
All of the staff were very keen,helpfull and respectfull.
The hotel lobby was very old world looking, and reminded us of the grand old days of old.

We spent one night at the Westmark Baranof in Juneau before heading out on a cruise. Our travel agent had suggested we stay in this historic hotel rather than the one recommended by our cruise company. She claimed it was supposed to be the nicest hotel in Juneau... If this was one of the nicest hotels, I would not want to have stayed in one of the less nice ones!

The desk had originally placed us in a room looking out toward the water. We asked to be switched to the back mountain side of the hotel which they accommodated. I am not sure how the original room would have been but the room we wound up in was the smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in. Not only was it small but it was very shabby with a stale stink to it. It didn't smell of cigarettes (it's supposed to be a non-smoking hotel) but there was something stale and stinky about it. Maybe it had been a smoking room years ago that they had never gotten clean. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen. It was barely larger than the one we had on the cruise ship later in the week. It didn't even have a tub, just a tiny stand up corner shower barely large enough for one person.

Overall we were not impressed with Juneau which seemed to be an odd mix of drunken sailors and tourists so maybe the Baranof really was the best it has to offer. However, we were underwhelmed.
