We decided to take a sidetrip off the beaten path during our 12 day trip to Alaska to Hope at the recommendation of a friend. Luckily we found these wonderful two bedroom cabins. Our stay at Hope's Hideaway came at just the right time for a slower pace and good family time. Clean, quiet and comfortable. This is Geo. Stecko's property but Dorinda lives right on the property. She makes for a welcome arrival and provided hot muffins for the morning. We filled out the breakfast ourselves in the full kitchen. There was an inside hot tub but we did not want to be inside away from this lovely area. Fantastic peaceful hike in Hope with very different fauna from our many other hikes in AK. We ate at two great restaurants - try Bowman's Bear Creek for gourmet, yes, real gourmet here. Adorable history museum. We wished we would have planned for two nights there instead of one. If you want to use your kitchen facilities you will find the barest minimum of groceries in Hope but you can bring your own groceries from one of the towns that are more on the beaten path. Anchorage is really not that far. The drive to Hope is beautiful. The cabins and Hope are close to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Ctr and Portage Glacier and fishing for other day activities besides the great hiking. We were the only guests at the time and just loved it!
