“Beautiful Property with Very Fine B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

We loved our 3-night stay at Bear Creek Winery. The owner and staff were extremely friendly and the facilities were wonderful. We had wonderful views, a sauna and hot tub, lawns, barbeque and much more. The breakfast was rather average - just frozen muffins and bland fruit which we prepared in our room along with coffee, tea and oatmeal. Upon arrival, we were given a complementary bottle of fruit wine, some hor's d'oeuvres and truffles. A totally relaxing and self-indulgent experience!

Room Tip: There are only two rooms - both are lovely.

“Charming, if quirky, place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

There are two rooms at this unique place, and we stayed in the Cowboy Room. It was cozy and comfortable with a more than adequate kitchen space and sitting area. A large bathroom with VERY comfy bathrobes complemented the sleeping area. There was also a rather large flat screen tv with more channels than you could ever want to watch. What more do you need? Well, the view is spectacular, and there is ample outdoor space to enjoy that is very well tended and landscaped. What made it quirky was the decor -- a whimsical cowboy-themed room with multiple allusions to John Wayne which were fun to look at. The only thing missing was wi-fi, and I use that more than the TV now -- time to enter the 21st century! I quite loved this place, and it was a great place to return to each day after exploring Homer and its environs.

Room Tip: The kitchen is well-outfitted if you need it -- don't hesitate to use it.

“Fun place in a fun town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

We enjoyed staying in the cabins which are located besides the winery. The grounds are nicely landscaped and very nice to sit in. The hot tub was nice but did not have jets. It is located a little out of town so cannot walk to the beach or the stores. Nice to have a refrigerator but not much in the way of dishes/utensils and the breakfast was very mediocre.

“Very Expensive, but nice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2011

Hosts were knowledgeable and friendly, but it was the most expensive place we stayed at in our 10 days in Alaska and I would rank 3 of 5 places we stayed at above this one. Also, no juice is supplied and the continental breakfast was not impressive. On a positive note, the room was clean and the views were nice.

“Quiet getaway with great wine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2010

We arrived and were given a complementary plate of smoked salmon and halibut crackers, free bottle of wine, and for our anniversary, a free bottle of port and chocolates. They gave us a tour of the room and had lots of brochures about what to see and do in Homer. There were two rooms in a small cabin, but both were independent of each other. You had to go down steps to reach the room, so it was not handicapped accessible. There was a goldfish pond with a small waterfall, and we could hear the water trickling from the room. On the porch, there was a table and chairs and a grill. The kitchen had a coffee pot, hot water kettle, refrigerator, freezer, dishes, oatmeal, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cider, muffins, and fruit. The bedroom had two easy chairs, books, a large flat screen tv, two fuzzy bathrobes, a space heater, and a queen size bed. The bathroom had a large shower stall, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. In the common outdoor area, there was a hot tub, steam room, fire pit, swing set, and large lawn. The main building has a wine tasting area where you get a 10% discount. The B and B usually has a two night minimum but we timed it where they had a one night opening. Overall, this place is very quiet, relaxing, and a nice escape for a couple.
