“Very nice stay, and a great view from the hot tub! Quiet and relaxing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2010

To celebrate our anniversary in 1999 we stayed one night at the Chocolate Drop Inn. The outside looked natural and a bit weather beaten, but once inside we felt immediately at home in the attractive surroundings and with our friendly hosts. Our room was attractively decorated and clean and comfortable. The hot tub was situated on a deck facing the mountains across the bay and we counted six glaciers. Our breakfast was cooked to order, and we sat at the kitchen bar and chatted with our hostess while she prepared it. We felt like family. We'd stay there again.

“Magnificent Views, Gracious Innkeepers, would stay again.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2009

My husband and I stayed at the Chocolate Drop Inn, just on the outskirts of the town of Homer, Alaska.
The Inn had just acquired new Inn keepers, Tim and Rose. They did a magnificent job of cleaning up the property, and keeping our room comfortable and clean. Their hospitality was top notch, and Tim is a wonderful cook. We had a huge breakfast every morning, so much so that we did not need lunch. The Chocolate Drop Inn is a hidden gem, with a great view of acorss the bay from the breakfast table. Tim and Rose are awesome innkeepers, they were super nice and attentive to every detail. The Chocolate Drop made our first trip ever to Alaska very memorable, and we would certainly stay here again.

“That disappointment.........”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2008

Decidedly scarce and above all we found that the owners were exceedingly rude and
mainly committed to self-entertainment rather than being attentive to their guests’ comfort.
True, they have hydromassage pool, but they switch it off while guests are using it or
hey even leave it just completely off .
The myth of super-breakfast has to be debunked too: it is just similar to the ordinary
American breakfasts, or rather….maybe inferior to the average, and in any case not at all an amazing one.
Nice hall and the beautiful iew but the rooms are really bare and scanty.
It has been the most low-quality B&B we’ve stayed at during our 21-days journey in Alaska.

“Hated the Chocolate Poop Inn”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2008

We booked a Halibut fishing trip in Homer, AK (which was great) and our Captain suggested some Bed & Breakfast's in Homer.
We booked our stay at the Chocolate Drop Inn with the manager (the owners son) and sent our deposit to reserve the 3 room for our party of six. They hired a new manager and the owners son kept our deposit, so we called to confirm our stay right before our trip. They could not find our deposit and acted like we were joking with them about our stay. We had to get the canceled check to prove we had paid which we did. The new manager called the owner and he honored our stay and promised we would enjoy our stay. When we got to the Chocolate Drop Inn there was no one to greet us but a note to tell us where our room was at which was alright. When the manager finally got back to the Inn we introduce ourselves to her and asked about any rules they had. We were told that the kitchen was hers and that we were not allowed behind the counter in fact she had it blocked off. We told her which days we would be fishing and started to talk about getting sandwiches and making our lunches on the counter (our side) and she informed us that we were not allowed to make sandwiches on our side of the counter, so we had to make them in our rooms. The Bed & Breakfast promised us gourmet food and even seafood breakfast's but what we received the first morning was warmed up biskets and gravy, warmed up in the microwave from her boyfriends' earlier breakfast. The next day we received a Crockpot egg breakfast she put in the night before. It was dry and burnt from cooking so long and tasted terrible. One morning she went fishing and for some reason she came back and went back to bed and told her daughter to microwave some frozen waffles for us, which ended up being our best breakfast our entire stay. She also restricted food on the deck. She never clean our rooms while we were there. She told us where we could store our food and when we put 2 bags of ice in the freezer the next morning it was gone. At the end we let her know what time we were leaving and she never even prepared us any breakfast so we had to take off and eat at a local restaurant which turned out to be quite good. Also someone in our party needed to wash a load of laundry at the end of our weeks stay and she told them that the machines were hers and quest could not use it. It was a beautiful place and the rooms were nice but the manager was lazy and rude. After our stay I sent an email to the owner letting him know about our stay and asking for an apology or something and the email ended by telling me to never come back and that would solve the problem. There appeared to be allot of good Bed & Breakfast's in the area but The Chocholate Drop Inn was not one of them I hope this helps someone if they are planning to stay in Homer.

“Loved our Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2008

We stayed at the Chocolate Drop two nights in June 2008 and loved it! Laurie, the hostess, was fantastic! She made sure we felt at home and were on schedule with our fishing trip and kayak trips, which she booked for us! Loved this place - we will be back. Highly recommend.
