We stayed three nights in one of the lower level rooms. The common area and our room were both clean, bright and updated. The bed was very comfortable and our bathroom was well maintained and private. There was a TV in our room, but since we weren't in Alaska to watch TV we didn't really care about the size, etc. The common area felt "homey" and we felt comfortable lounging there reading late at night after a fun day of activities and hiking. The location was ideal for exploring the Girdwood area, Turnagain Arm and the northern Kenai Peninsula. We felt that it was well worth the price of our stay since we had stayed in much shabbier accommodations for the same or more during our Alaska vacation. We spoke to the rental agent upon our arrival and ran into him and his family while they were there checking in other guests. He was very helpful and friendly with suggesting some activities and dining options.
Just an FYI - this is no longer a B&B. I had read some of the earlier reviews on this site and other sites that talked about the breakfast/food arrangements and didn't realize that it had recently turned into a "Nightly Rental". My fault - I should have paid more attention. But we were not prepared and did not bring our own food, coffee and tea.
The only reason we marked this location down slightly and didn't give it 5 stars was due to some outside issues and no fault of the establishment or owners. At the time of our visit, the home next door was under construction. Our first evening there, the very considerate gentleman neighbor felt it was OK to run his construction equipment right outside our window until 12:15 am. Then, just as he quieted down, some drunk guests locked their keys and cell phone in their room, stranding them in the common area while waiting for another guest they knew to come home with his cell phone to call the agent. They proceeded to spend the next several hours talking loudly lamenting their situation and finishing off their last bottle of wine. Up until then, I hadn't cared one bit that we had no cell phone signal in AK. But at that moment I would've given a million dollars to be able to loan them my phone. Thank goodness the other two nights of our stay were quiet and uneventful!
