We stayed here for 3 nights during our vacation on the Kenai Peninsula. While staying here, we visited the Alyeska Resort, Winner Creek Trail, The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, and Portage Glacier.
As their web-site describes, the Timberline BnB is actually two apartments in a building the size of a moderately large house. We had the "suite" side, which was ample for 3 adults. The other side is larger.
The upstairs bed was comfortable. The downstairs had a sofa bed, which was actually very comfortable. The refrigerator and cupboards were abundantly stocked with breakfast items, snacks and juices. I remember the food as being all-natural. The setting is quiet and clean.
The building is located in a regular neighborhood. The hosts live on one side, and there's another house right next door. The woods are in the rear of the house. Not exactly remote, if that's what you're looking for. But the area is heavily forested, and the air is fresh.
The hosts told us about the Virgin Creek Trail at the end of the road, which features gorgeous waterfalls. Not on the map, and definitely worth the hike.
We only had a couple of issues. The living room features a high window with no shade. During the Alaska summer, it never gets totally dark, so the downstairs (with the sofa bed) is always dimly lit. If that's a problem for you, you'll need a sleep mask. The only other negative is the location of the hot tub, which is right outside the glass doors of the suite. Both sides of the house share the hot tub. We really weren't interested in using the hot tub, but our second night there the other guests took a dip. So, I'm minding my own business, sitting on the couch, and about 10 feet away the neighbors hop in the hot tub. As young people like to say, it was a bit *awkward.* I just kinda sidled over to the door and lowered the blinds.
Aside from those minor issues, this was a nice place to stay. It was a little pricey, but seemed to be in line with surrounding areas. (We were charged $50 per night for the third person, which I thought was a bit excessive.) The best situation would probably be two families or a group of friends sharing both sides of the rental, thus avoiding the hot tub privacy issue.

We have had black out blinds throughout the house since 2001 and this is the first time anyone has brought up the high window as an issue. We will go ahead and order a blind for that window as we do want all who stay to sleep well.
As for the hot tub, yes it is shared between both sides of the house and it is located in front of the suite on the porch. If privacy is an issue for you, the chalet side would be the proper choice as you can not see the hot tub from that side of the house.
The 50.00 charge per extra guest is there because we do stock the house with a large assortment of food, such as coffee beans, teas, muffins, cookies, milk, orange juice, fresh sourdough bread, eggs, homemade jams, cereals, pancake mix, popcorn and more. All guests are able to use these items whenever they choose.
