Within 5 minutes of arriving at the hostel alone I was invited to join another group of travelers for dinner. You can't beat that for friendliness. The hostel is set back from Alyeska Highway in a quiet residential area, but it is only 15 mins walk to pubs, restaurants and shops. Nearby the Crow Creek pass and winner creek trail joining the Iditarod Trail should not be missed.
The hostel has a welcoming seating area with a book exchange,a small dining table and efficient kitchen area. The dormitory sleeps 9, including a double bunk for couples.
The private room (which I occupied) had a double bunk and upper single bunk. The bed was clean and comfortable and I had three excellent nights sleep. Linen is stored in the sitting room and on arrival you make up your own bunk. There are two bathrooms and there was always a plentiful supply of hotwater. A wooden deck outside is great place to sit on warmer days. The hostel is cleaned daily and the no shoes policy helps keep the mountains outside!. Excellent value for money at $40 for the private room (single). Bunks in the dorn are $20. The friendship, conversation and companionship is free....
