“Beautiful Lodge - Worth every penny!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2010

I traveled to Northern Sky Lodge in February 2010 with my mom. We stayed 4 nights in hope to see the Northern Lights. Unfortunatly we didn't see them, but they did see them the night before we arrived. The lodge is a perfect location if you want to see the lights. Its about 30 miles outside of Fairbanks.

Location: Very secluded. We rented a car which was a very good idea as there isn't much to do around the lodge. We were able to see a lot while we were there. Although I know Pascale does provide transfers if you do not wish to rent a car. The lodge is in a remote location so I would highly recommend getting a car.

Lodging: We stayed on the second floor with two Queen beds. The room was amazing! It faced the North side so if the lights came out we would see them. The beds were very comfortable and all the amenities were included (shampoo, conditioner, etc.)

Food: There was a shared kitchen upstairs so we did stock up at Fred Meyer and were able to make our own food. Pascale does provide dinner for a small fee, we were never around to enjoy it. The breakfast which isn't mentioned on the website is awesome! We had waffles one day, pancakes another, everything was so fresh and delicious.

Activities: There is dog mushing, unfortunatly when we stayed they had only recieved a few inches of snow so we weren't able to experience it.

Overall I would highly recommend NSL to anyone considering it. The hospitality was amazing, I have never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before but I would say the hospitality was probably among the best. We had an amazing stay and would love to come back again sometime!

“Great location for aurora watching!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2009

This place is located in remote forest. It's surrounded by nature. Very popular among aurora watchers. 2nd floor room was very warm even when outside was -40 C. However, first floor room was cold and cold air was coming in from gaps of logs on the wall. I hope they serve warm breakfast such as eggs and soup rather than cereals and toast. Internet was very slow.

“Wonderfull place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2009

Just spent two weeks in Alaska traveling from Anchorage to Fairbanks, and staying here was the most relaxing portion of our trip. The Lodge is located in a quiet and beautiful spot. We spent time just sitting on a bench behind the lodge relaxing and enjoying the scenery. A great place to relax and unwind.

“Northern Sky Lodge is an Alaskan treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2008

The Northern Sky Lodge was everything we had hoped it would be, and more. The lodge was comfortable and cozy. It was tastefully decorated, full of local artifacts and artwork...no cheesy stuff here, folks. The food was delicious. Salmon, ratatouille, halibut, home-made apple pies...all cooked to perfection.

Our host, Pascale, worked very hard to make sure everything was
perfect. She was a real pleasure to be around. Pascale took us dog-mushing, which I highly recommend. From the completely excited barking of the dogs being fastened to the sled, to the hushed sound of their paws on the trail and the wind passing by your ears, it was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

I've got to mention Pascale's adorable pooch, Sid...Sid is a beautiful golden retriever who is always up for a walk in the woods, or a little game of tug-o-war.

The setting of the lodge was very relaxing and quiet...the trees were full of birds...the sunsets were incredible...the aurora borealis we saw on our first night was the most brilliant of our entire Alaska vacation.

My wife and I loved the Northern Sky Lodge completely. The four days we spent here were very special. We can't wait to visit again.

“Very good B&B”

The lodge is away from city light, that makes it a perfect place to view aurora. The price is very reasonable. The host Pascale is fantastic, with very good cooking. Her dog Sid is amazing too.

Sid took us for a walk into the forest, that was an truly amazing experience beside watching The Aurora. And the price is reasonable.
