It's a nice hotel, with all services you need: coin laundry, ice machine, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker in room, and also free wireless (that often stop to work and you have to ask the staff to restart).

The staff is composed by a strange Chinese family, that lives in the reception office, they seem to be bothered any time you ask them something, they try to be kind but it's evident they don't like to work a lot...

The rooms are big but they are not clean at all...the bedding are washed in the same coin laundry for guests and so they will never be very clean....

The motel is reasonable and clean but rundown. We found ourselves changing light bulbs and tightening screws everywhere. the rooms were so hot and wouldn't cool down (a ceiling fan would help) and then there is the constant sun light issue so you either try to sleep in day light with out privacy (windows and curtains open) or you shut the curtains and suffocate...
It would be an OK stay on a temperate Alaskan summer but if it gets into the upper seventies you will suffer.
If you do stay do go to the Haute Quarter grill (walking distance) great food and service creative cuisine and very delicious (the exterior may be deceiving but don't let that fool you

My husband and I just returned from almost a 3-week trip to Alaska to visit their national parks. We stayed at the Eagle River Motel on two separate occasions in June. I chose this hotel after reading reviews and it was so much less expensive than the hotels in Anchorage. This is just a basic room and quiet enough. Bring your own hair-dryer. There were a few washed "stains' on the sheets; but was clean other than that. The beds were comfortable enough for the night. The first stay was okay because the weather was colder outside. The second stay, however, was warmer and very humid. We discovered there was no a/c and could not get the window to open. My husband finally got it to open up a little by going outside to pull on it. They do provide a box fan, but even with that, it was still too warm (and the heat had been turned all the way down.) It was about $110 per night, so you might check on rates in Anchorage and compare. It did have a microwave and frig, which helps save some $ on meals. Owners were nice. So all in all, have "mixed feelings" on this one.

Stayed here instead of Anchorage before my flight home. Not bad, the lobby was a bit cramped - room was on the top floor which I don't mind but there was a big dog barking in the window as I walked by - looks like someone was living there permanently. Fortunately I did not hear the dog after that. The room was plenty big, one of the beds was a bit crooked and bent - would not have worked well for two, but fine for one if you slept diagonally. TV stopped working about an hour before I went to bed. Bathroom was in need of maintenance as well. This place would be a great value if they put some money into it. Garcia's Restaurant is not too far away - best Mexican food in Alaska.
