On the positive side, this hotel has free wifi and is cheaper than most Anchorage hotels. Other than that, our experience was not good. When we arrived, I had to wait several minutes for someone to appear at the front desk after ringing the bell twice. I could hear a TV playing around the corner of the front desk and a man talking to a child. When the man appeared, sleepy-eyed at 3:30 pm, he was dressed in a tank style t-shirt/undershirt. We got our keys (yes, keys - 2 of them - and not the card reader type) and went to the room, where we found other tenants there already. When I told the 'manager' there was already someone in that room, he asked 'are you sure?' Hello! I just walked in on them! We got another room. The room can be opened by anyone with a key, which apparently are abundant. There is no keyless deadbolt or chain/bar lock. The room is large, but dated and well-worm. Indoor/outdoor carpet, furnishings that are damaged and worn out, stained and filthy chairs, mismatched bedding on the two beds, mismatched beds (one about 8 inches higher than the other), and not well maintained. There was mold in the bathroom. Not just mold stains, but mold, in the corners, of course, but also between the tiles. The tub appeared to have been given a quick swipe, but no cleanser used. The washcloth had a black pubic hair on it. Our room was a basic room and it had a microwave with a dial that you turned to get it on and that was dirty, too. Also, they don't allow smoking in the room, but people smoke right outside the rooms. With it being August, you have to have your window open to get any air and the smoke blows in. The window is an old crank type. Oh, and if you have your window open so you don't get hot, everyone that walks by can see what you're doing. So, your choices are privacy, or sweat. There was no coin laundry, no ice, and the soda machine was broken. Also, the garbage cans outside were overflowing.
Honestly, it's more appropriate for a pack of teens backpacking through the state or for someone to use to cheat on his/her spouse.
