This place is clean and tidy and in a good location, but not what it said it was. The service from the on site manger was excellent, friendly and funny. We had a hole in our wall where a family of ants come in...., the shower seals were not very good and in the morning, the shower floor would be covered in brown mucky liquid (can be showered off, but still a bit gross). They "lost" the remote to our air conditioning unit, therefore no air conditioning.... The bed was two singles zipped together, extremely uncomfortable!! On the plus side, the beach was nice and very private and the burgers on burger night were so good, so we ordered another one!!

We gad a good time in Raro, but our full size fridge never worked, neither did the dishwasher. We were asked everyday if we wanted our room made up which we got those puppy dog eyes for us to say no. When we said no then nothing got done in the room. We oftern had rubbish there for two to three days and we did not want our room made daily. The oven was broken again and never fixed. The hostess was good fun, but very thankful that we only planned on sleeping there at night.

We had a great time at the Castaway Villas, staying for seven nights in a poolside studio. Our room was cleaned and made up daily. We worked our way through the cocktail list three times over, utilising Happy Hour every night!

Having read reviews on this site we went to the Castaway Villas expecting an older type of accommodation that would not have all the luxurys of other resorts on the island. This meant we were prepared for substandard fittings and the like. We were pleasantly suprised therefore at the standard of the room.

My only comments other than this would be that the two king singles attached to each other tended to part ways in the night putting us into two very close together single beds rather than the one double we had booked.
The couch in studio one was at an angle meaning that after my cocktails at night i occasionally fall off the couch!!

In all though, i wish i could go back tomorrow and stay for ever......

We usually go to Fiji but decided to try Rarotonga. We prefer the small resorts with a beachfront room and chose Castaways. What a great location but what a letdown!
We paid a premium for the beachfront unit but - the easy chairs shown on the brochure/website were not there, we sat on hard metal chairs.- the beach bar was closed - the restaurant deck was never used. The beach lounger squabs were never taken in before the rain so we sat on wet squabs. The restaurant was not open for lunches and only opened on alternate nights for dinner with over-priced pizza and beer on two nights. The whole place needs a tidy-up but the staff were friendly. Fiji again next year.
