“A great oasis for campers and non-campers”

A couple years ago, my wife and I stayed here for a night during a 10 day trip to Alaska, sandwiched between visits to Denali, Homer/Halibut Point and Seward. While we didn't come close to "roughing it" on any part of our trip, our stay at the Princess Wilderness Lodge felt being in the lap of luxury. Especially after driving 5-6 hours straight from Talkeetna (breath-taking views along the way), we were ready for hot food and cold beers and found it at the Eagles Crest restaurant. Our room was huge, yet very cozy particularly provided by the wood-burning stove and still retained a rustic feel. The grounds were well-lit, which was helpful given that a staff member had suffered a bear attack just weeks before our visit. Great views of the Kenai River where eagles and fishermen share space. Will definitely stay there again if we get to visit Alaska again!

“Beautiful retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

This hotel is beautifully constructed, maintained, and managed. The lodge has a roaring fireplace, the food they serve in their restaurants are delicious, and the grounds are meticulously kept. We took a hike on one of the trails by the hotel and saw pristine woods with many flowers and mushrooms. We had a room in one of the cabins and was happily surprised by the cast iron fireplace in the room. We toasted our feet by the fire in our own room, and it was heavenly.

Room Tip: Ask to make sure there is a cast iron fireplace in your room.

“Great lodging in a beautiful natural setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

This lodge is situated in Cooper Landing in the beautifule Kenai peninsula. The manager & his wife are very friendly and helpful. Dan jumped on our motor coach as we arrived to welcome us and tell us a little bit about the lodge and area. Out of all the Princess lodges we stayed in (Fairbanks, Denali, Talkeetna and Kenai) this is the only one where the manager personally greeted us.

The lodge itself is very nice. The food, as at all the Princess lodge restaurants, was very good whether you had a formal meal in the dining room or something a little more casual in the pub. The back deck was perfect to kick back, relax and enjoy the scenery - take in the river below and keep an eye out for bald eagles flying past. There are also hiking trails that you can explore either down to the river to watch the salmon or through the woods (just watch out for bear!). The staff are friendly and always willing to help and don't hesitate to ask the information/reservation desk for details/advice about the trails or which tours to take.

The rooms are large with a sofa/chairs and a small table & chair set as well as each having a wood burning cast iron stove with firewood provided (although there is separate heat if you don't want to use the stove). The bathrooms are adequate (the shower head might be a little low for some taller people though my husband is 6'2" and managed ok). My only real complaint was the bed. I found the mattress to be hard (I found this to be true in all the Princess lodges we stayed in) and I didn't sleep well because it caused my hips to hurt so I tossed and turned all night. (Princess, if you're reading this, egg crate or memory foam mattress pads would be a big help).

“Jewel of the Princess Lodges in Alaska”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

If you want to see an area of Alaska that is more beautiful than all others, stay at the Kenai Princess Lodge in Cooper Landing. The location is ideal for sightseeing in the area. The rooms were clean and neat, the wait staff was beyond compare in professionalism and friendliness. We've never had better service and it made our stay the better for it. The bartender, Carl, was superior, and his nice easy going manner made everything perfect. I would go there again and again. A bonus was having a woodstove in our room, which was wonderful on a cool fall night.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a wood stove. Large room and the stove made it cozy.
