“Wonderful lodges, amazing people, spectacular setting”

We stayed at the lovely Aitutaki Seaside Lodges mid October and had a wonderful time. Raro, our host picked us up, putting these beautiful, fragrant leis around our necks. The accomodations themselves were wonderful. There are 3 units total. They are air conditioned, which made sleeping comfortable. There is a CD player, and a DVD player. There are fins, snorkels and masks as well as sea kayaks. There are laundry facilities on site as well. The lodges come with a nice little kitchen. Travelers should know there is no phone, so you have to either use your cell phone or make calls from town. The deck is nice with furniture. We ate all our meals outside. Raro was super accomodating, arranging for a scooter and taking us to pick up groceries when we arrived. On one of the nights I caught some of the crabs that run around the property. Raro was kind enough to show me how to cook them, and she even supplemented our meal that night with some tuna and coleslaw she brought over to us as well! She brought us some of her personal movies as well. The best part about this place is the setting. The beach is all white sand, not rocky. The snorkeling right in front of the place was spectacular. We saw a huge variety of fish, a couple moray eels, starfish, and even a sea snake. The sunsets in the evenings were beautiful. right from our deck. I would definately reccomend this place to travelers wanting a quiet, fairly private, relaxing stay. This is run by locals and is not a resort type setting at all. We would stay here again.

“Breath taking tranquil setting”

The lodges are positioned right on the beach with a breathtaking view in a tranquil and quiet location. Our host Roro was very helpful and accommodating and she took us shopping and to pick up a bike when we arrived and made bookings for us.

We found the ants about the same as Rarotonga but there were less mosquitoes: remember to bring matches or a lighter for your mosquito coils as well as repellent as it is lovely sitting on the deck watching the sunset.

The equipment has reached the stage where some replacement or maintenance is required but we understand that a ship was due in very shortly so the shops would be restocked. We had one wine glass, one cereal plate, no detergent, soap or washing powder. Two of the kayaks were cracked and we didn't try the third. The gas bottle for the hot water boost ran out on the last evening which meant cool showers for all three of the lodges.

We were impressed with Roro's resourcefulness when the car wouldn't start to take us to the airport. When she was unable to reach anyone on her cell phone she hopped on a cycle and rode to a friends place who then came and took us to the airport with time to spare before our flight.

“Private and beautiful location. Great family destination.”

My husband and I and our 11 month recently visited the Seaside Lodges for 3 nights. Roro (the host) was incredibly helpful and sweet. We did have a few hickups including no hot water for one night (which made bathing a baby interesting....), no toilet paper upon arrival, no washing up liquid, our friends bungalow didn't lock, limited cooking utensils (ie - no breakfast bowels, one dinner plate, two spoons etc), and no soap. The hot water issue was probably the biggest pain, but Roro was very swift in responding to our issue - and although the problem couldn't be fixed the first night, they did their upmost to sort it out. The kayaks were also cracked and leaking. We took the two person kayak out, but had to return early as it filled with water..... The dryer was also playing up. I guess we were a little disappointed that the cabins lacked some very basic essentials and the property (and equipment) needed some maintence. We do understand that some of these things are expensive to purchase on the island (as we had to purchase some of them) but some things are just a given in paid accommodation - ie - toilet paper). Roro was however very helpful in obtaining a travel cot for us, which we were very grateful for. In summary, if we were to return to Aitutaki, we would love to stay at the Seaside Lodges again, we'd just be more prepared next time. The location was breathtaking!

“AWESOME & peaceful getaway BUT beware of the mosquitoes!”

I really loved staying out at Aitutaki Seaside Lodges. It is in a very private and secluded setting! Besides a rogue sound of the airplanes coming in nearby, the place is so very peaceful! The bungalow is nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable enough. One of the biggest downsides of the place and likely the entire island are the armies of bugs! Whatever you do, DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT forget bug spray or you will be in mortal pain from mozzie bites! Also, the ants there are horrible. This is not like a few ants here and there if you left out a piece of bread or a cookie by mistake, instead it is an army of ants in constant search of food! Even one small crumb will have your place crawling with ants. Also, be sure to bring your own soap as Roro does not provide soap due to the high cost and guests not using them! Overall, this is a great place but be aware of the mosquitoes as they are hyper rabid at all times of the day!!!!

“Great place to stay and service with a personal touch”

We stayed at seaside lodges for 7 nights in May. The bungalow was well kept and clean. Roro, our friendly host was most helpful and provided great service which added a real personal touch to our stay. This was our second visit to Aitutaki. The first time we stayed at Etu Moana which was lovely, however this time we opted to stay for a little longer and therefore Seaside Lodges was a more affordable option. We were not dissappointed, in fact we enjoyed our stay so much if we ever came back to this wonderful part of the world we wouldn't hesitate to stay at Seaside Lodges again.
