“Right on the beach, very friendly service”

We stayed here 3 nights as part of our Island Hopping tour. We were picked up from the airport by a lovely lady who took us to town so we could do some shopping. The cottages are fully self-contained with a little kitchen.

The cottages are right on stilts on the beach. Cottage 1, 7 and 9 even have a palm tree growing through the balcony at the front (great for the picture) but other than that the cottages are very similar.

The cottages are clean (serviced daily), the bed is comfortable but be aware that there is no a/c. There is a ceiling fan but ours made so much noise that it was impossible to sleep when we left it on. We left the windows and door open during the day so that the breeze could come through and slept ok. There were hardly any mosquitos when we were there but always worth taking a few coils and repellent.

There are not many dinner options within walking distance. You have rent a scooter or car to get around. We rented a car from Rino's rentals but got ripped off with a charge of 70$/day for a Nissan Micra that was falling apart. Scooters were offered at 25$/day but as we were two we felt safer spending 20$ extra on a little car. You do not need 4WD on Aitutaki.
It would be worth having a look and ring around before you go there if you can get a better deal.

Paradise Cove is a lovely place to stay!

Room Tip: 1, 7 and 9 have a palm tree growing through the balcony - good for the pics

“Absolute beachfront”

You'd be hard pressed to find better value for money accommodation on Aitutaki than Paradise Cove - $120 per night for a beachfront bungalow was excellent.

The staff are very friendly, right from the airport pickup by Joe who made us feel right at home.. he took us on a short trip into 'town' to get a feel for the place before dropping us off at Paradise Cove.

The reception area is in a covered porch area at the front of the property, and has a comfy couch and couple of chairs to lounge in under shade while waiting for tour pickups etc. There is also an honesty phone you can use to make local calls for bookings etc. Opposite this is a covered BBQ area.

The room itself is fairly small and basic, but has everything you need for an enjoyable stay (large bed, TV, safe, table and a couple of chairs, fridge, 2 element cooktop, sink, plates and pots/pans & bathroom). Each bungalow has its own balcony off the bedroom with shade provided by the coconut trees - a nice place for morning breakfast or an afternoon drink.. The bungalows are set one forward, one back, so when you're out on the balcony you're not sitting right next to your neighbour.

There are some free reef shoes/snorkles/masks available for you to borrow however most were pretty old and/or broken when we visited, so I'd recommend you take your own.

Have a chat with Junior about things to do while on the island. He'll have some good recommendations, and may organise a BBQ or 'meet the locals' night for you to attend with other guests.

Don't expect luxury - Paradise Cove offers simple, honest and friendly accommodation & hosts.

“Just what we needed...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

What a piece of paradise! We arrived in Aitutaki for a family celebration in January and booked 4 nights at Paradise Cove - and we're glad we did. We made last minute changes to our accommodation which included bringing our 3rd son with us on the trip. Nothing was too much hassle and our 3 boys were placed in a large bungalow while my husband and I were in a beachfront bungalow. The rooms were spacious with the basics to make our stay enjoyable. The ceiling fans were enough to make the heat bearable. Our boys enjoyed the waterfront location. 3 scooters were available to hire from Paradise Cove and we were able to enjoy the Island and all the beauty it has to offer. Mary (and Ian) in the office made our stay extra special, and really did make the difference. The only downside is that we missed the Island BBQ night put on by Junior - maybe next time...

Wow! What a beautiful place Aitutaki is. Big thanks to Junior, his family and his team at Paradise Cove for their exceptional hospitality. Our accommodation was clean and very spacious accommodating 3 of us easily. We were able to enjoy a lovely family meal and the unit was able to fit 8 of us comfortably. The nice big deck at the front of the unit was an added bonus. On arrival, witnessing only a fan ceiling and no air con I was a bit iffy considering the heat, however the ceiling fan was sufficient it helped us all climatise to the weather a lot quicker. Will be spreading good words about Paradise Cove for sure.
