First I will talk about the hotel and then the place. We were greeted at the airport with Tahitian gardenia leis, they smell so good! And then we were oriented about the hotel. This property is in an absolutely beautiful location! The rooms are lovely and the pool is extremely nice with a zero edge towards the lagoon and a cascading waterfall coming down from the restaurant above. The lush grounds are so beautiful as well. The steps up to the lobby and restaurant are candle lit in the evening and torches around the pool flicker as we watched the sun set.
We found some of the service to be good and some not so good. Ken who greeted us at the airport was so sweet! And when I found out that the hotel had run out of diet coke as their supply ship was late to arrive on the island, Ken could see this was a problem for me ( I don't drink alcohol but diet pepsi or coke is my addiction) so he quickly scoured the island for some and delivered it to me as soon as they could. This was an example of good service that we received. The restaurant for breakfast is good and the service very pleasant and enjoyable. However, the service at dinner in the restaurant we found poor. Having to wait for so many things and having to ask more than once got a bit tiresome. We found that if we asked the front desk for something it often was not done in a timely manner. Burnt out light bulbs in our room were not replaced the first time we asked. Our friends requested an extra lounge chair out front of their room - as there was only 1 and all the other rooms had at least two - this was never provided during our stay even though we asked twice. When we had dinner with friends at the pool/bar restaurant we had to wait so long for everything we almost gave up and walked up the street for pizza.
The hotel could make more money on food and beverage if they would provide some pool side service as well. Anytime I wanted something I had to walk over to the bar, and sometimes I had to wait for someone to show up. Not sure where the staff would go to but sometimes during the day there was no one around. It is very hot here, and it would be nice if a waiter would come by the loungers and offer drinks.
The linens on the beds are ok, but again for a 5 star resort they could be a finer cotton.
The bungalow we had was great. Spacious room with a king size bed, sofa and coffee table, TV, room safe and large bathroom with a double sink. A large covered deck opened right onto the beach. Their were some trees to provide shade, a large hammock in front, two lounge chairs on the sand and an outside shower to rinse off. Perfect!
We had a very enjoyable time on this holiday, but we felt for a 5 star resort that the service could be improved upon.
I will attach some photos but I have to say we saw some of the most beautiful islands, beaches and water we have ever seen. The colours are fantastic. The contrast of white sand, blue water and sky is outrageous. The snorkeling is fantastic we went out with Teking and would recommend him. He is a character but good. This island has virtually no commercialization and the population is under 1500. This place is all about the beauty and relaxation.
