“Sooooooo much more than a GuestHouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2009

Totally incredible - beyond what I could have imagined. We've stayed 3 times now, and beyond the fact that it is a lovely place and wonderful and convenient location (AND with smoke alarms in the rooms which is REALLY important and not very common in Costa Rica...nice to know my safety and wellbeing is valued and I can sleep with that peace of mind!), Vicki has been the origin and connector for us with everyone we have met in Costa Rica (and amazing people at that) and as a result, in the 4 months we've been in the country our lives have changed BIG time, for the better. We are blown away by it all. I swear Vicki was born to weave magic in people's lives by wonderfully helping and guiding newcomers arriving in Costa Rica and connecting people together...then sitting back and watching the magic happen.
I'd recommend Fountains Guesthouse as not only a great place, buut a rare and special place - in all my world travels I have never come across anything like it.

“Go no where else”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2009

If my reveiew can possibly add to what has already been said! Vicki is the most helpful, warm, kind, supportive, informed, willing, generous and fun to be-with-person we have ever met, apart from the Ticos in our stay in Costa Rica. She is such a great connector, knows everyone and organises so much for you. I can highly recommend Fountains as the perfect place to stay in the Central Valley area. Escazu is central to everthing - shops, banks, buses, supermarkets and restaurants, all within easy walking of Vicki's. The property is set back in a beautiful lush garden with lots of open cool areas. The rooms are ideal, HUGE beds and a great big kitchen - all in all its perfect, you even have the choice of using the amazingly comfortable massage chair. All of the connects we made in our many weeks in Costa Rica started through Vicki. Oh yeh the free wi-fi was a huge bonus. After a long flight to Costa Rica Vicki had organised a taxi to pick us up at the airport, so we didn't have to worry about those necessary but sometimes confusing things when arriving in a new country for the first time.

“Home away from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2009

The Guesthouse is a very large, really cool home located in the heart of Escazu. It's back away from the main road and buffered by a huge beautiful garden. My son and I loved swinging on the outdoor hammocks and walking around the grounds. We even got to experience an earthquake while there, though not part of the package. Vicki is an amazing hostess. She's always wiling to help with whatever happens to be falling on your plate at the moment. She made us feel so welcome and at ease in her home and really just a part of the family. Josh Voelks, her helper, is a lovely person and just added to the nice vibe. We had a lot on our plate and it was very nice to come 'home' to a group of people who cared.
Would definately recommend this place to all our friends and family.

“Great Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2008

I am soooo late in writing my review but since a stay is in the future I just had to get in my two cents worth. Let's begin with the most important aspect of our stay...Vicki, who operates the guesthouse, is by far one of the most gracious people I have ever met. She is extremely knowledgeable about the area and has a network of contacts for drivers, restaurants, tours, etc. that is unmatched. We were there for my son to have dental work and I chose the Fountains Guesthouse after looking at several other places. The house is very clean, safe, spacious, fun, and funky! We were so relaxed and slept so well on very comfortable beds. The fountains in the rooms were very soothing I might add. I will return again and again.

“Low key,helpfull and (good) funky”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2008

I stayed at Fountain GH in April. I had to be in San Jose for a week of medical and dental work. This well run and helpful GH was excellent for my needs and was very affordable compared to other options. The low key atmosphere, large house(with only a few rooms) and spacious grounds, made it a fine place to relax between medical visits . If you have alternative health needs Vicki seems to have many contacts in that community.Close to CIMA hospital(best private hospital in Costa Rica) and convenient to many doctors/dentists offices, Fountains has a hard to find quality and location at a great price for San Jose.. The proprietress VIcki was extremely helpful with transportation arrangements and general advice based on her knowledge and her many contacts. If you need a relaxed place to stay in Escazu, especially if you must attend to medical needs and visits, this is a great place.Vicki is as helpful as she is hyper, and that 's a good thing if you need the inside scoop on the basics of Escazu and what it offers as a Costa Rican hub or a place to attend to other needs.
