“We can't thank Ginette enough!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

When you go to San Jose (Escazu) be sure and stay with Ginette Laurin at Casa Laurin. My husband Lee, and I have stayed 4 times over the years and love her courtesy, great B&B, wonderful food, and helpfulness. Ginette goes out of the ordinary way to make you feel welcome, comfortable and content. She even took us to downtown San Jose to help me find a tablecloth I wanted. Ginette's home is immaculate and has every amenity!

“Best we found in San Jose!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We stayed with Ginette1 and Ginette2 at Casa Laurin while in Costa Rica. We had stayed in two other properties prior to moving to Casa Laurin. It was such a relief to be greeted at the door by the owner like long-lost relatives rather than the usual impersonal paid staff of a hotel. The place is BEAUTIFUL!! Lovely Large rooms - interesting decor - ambiance like being at home - clean & inviting pool - and an 'honor bar'!! They both did everything possible to make our stay there enjoyable and comfortable. And their knowledge of interesting local places to see is fantastic - ask about the Herb Farm.

The breakfast each day was varied, healthy and prepared hot and as we had asked - fruit juices, coffee/tea, toast, diced assorted fresh fruits, meat & eggs, cereals (hot & cold) yogurts, and much more almost anything you could wish for!
Our room was excellent - big & comfortable bed, extra large bathroom, balcony with table & chairs, cable TV (including English channels) and so much more.

Oh, and if you need it, there is a big new Walmat only 3 blocks away - and in that area are several banks, restaurants, shops and stores

AND - be sure to take advantage of their special driver and guide - Edwardo. We had used a 'taxi' driver on a previous day to visit a couple of places out of the city. His abrupt stop & go driving plus twisting roads actually made me queasy and my wife violently sick - so much so we aborted the day trip at noon. Edwardo then was our driver & guide for three trips, all for long distances into the hills outside of San Jose, and he was GREAT! Slow on the sharp curves and stops to show us many interesting places - both those we planned and several we would never have known if he did not take us there. And out in the hills, miles from any town, he found lovely restaurants for lunch!

(Oh - even if you do not stay at Casa Laurin, if you need a day trip or simply transportation to another area, call and see if Edwardo is available - you will not regret it!

Room Tip: The rating for Sleep Quality certainly had nothing to do with the owners or property - there was ear...

“Relaxing and beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Me and my husband spent our wedding night there (last night). The house is beautiful, clean, relaxing and the host, Ginette, is a very pleasant person, she even brought us breakfast to our room this morning. We stayed in the superior room, it looks exactly like it does on the website, only bigger. The bed is big and comfy, and I kind of wished we could have spent another night. Ginette knows Costa Rica well and is evident that she loves -as she told us and as we could see- what she does. Very recommended.

“Ginette to the Rescue!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

We were in Costa Rica for the first time this past spring with our 4 year old and decided to overnight at Casa Laurin before heading up to Monteverde. We arrived in San Jose, checked into Casa Laurin, and headed out to get dinner. While walking to dinner my husband stepped "funny" off a curb and badly sprained his ankle. We had to find a taxi to get him back to Casa Laurin because he could not put any weight on it. Ginette was amazing. Not only did she stay up that night to make phone calls for us to help us get word to the rest of our family (who were already up in Monteverde), but she volunteered to take us to the hospital in the morning to translate for us. She was so gracious and accommodating; she spent the entire morning with us at the hospital. We could not have been more appreciative and pleased with Ginette and her lovely B and B! We would absolutely stay with her again (and again, and again and again!).

“Ginette will meet all your needs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

We stayed in Casa Laurin one night before leaving for the South Pacific Coast. Ginette is very generous, attentive to all, always thinking about the detail that make you feel like a very important person. She'll do everything to make your stay wonderfull and she'll meet all your needs. Breakfast are complete and very very delicious. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean. We recommand this place with no hesitation.
