My boyfriend and I checked into the hotel at around 6pm and asked the concierge for directions to the closest movie theater. After we locked the room, the concierge saw us both walk out the door. To my knowledge, he was the only employee working at that time of night. When we got back from the theater at around 10pm, we opened our room and found that our belongings had been rifled through, my wallet was open with all of my credit cards exposed, and we were missing several items. Now we check our bank accounts and credit statements daily, and we've enrolled in Identity Theft Protection, all because of the poor quality service at this hotel. I hope that someone sees this and it prevents the same thing from happening to anyone else.

I stayed for three nights and was pretty happy. I'm yet to stay anywhere in San Jose, but was content with what I was getting for $50 a night.

Walking distance to a travel agent, a nice open-area restaurant, and an ATM.

Easy car rental, friendly staff, OK internet... off and on, super-basic breakfast, EPIC shower. (way-roomy, extreme flow!, YES!)

Our flight got into San Jose at 10pm, so we needed a cheap place to stay overnight. We ended up at Inca Real which was about a 15 minute cab ride from the airport. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the interior of the hotel is charmingly decorated and cozy. The beds were comfortable and, it being on the outskirts of the city, there wasn't any noise from the street.

As some people have noted, this hotel is in a 'sketchy' part of the city, but all of San Jose seems a bit sketchy to me. I'm not a stranger to city life and I felt comfortable enough walking around the area with my wife at 11 pm, although with a heightened sense of awareness and caution.

This hotel is a good leaping off point for a Costa Rican vacation if you just need a place to stay in the city on the way to or from the airport; We would stay there again for this purpose in a heartbeat. I'm not sure it would make a good home-base for an entire stay though.

This hotel is in a very sketchy part of town. We were not aware of this so booked it for our last night in Costa Rica. As we unloaded our luggage, one was stolen from us. Luckily, nothing important was in there. The room was a regular sized room but everything in there was very old and uncomfortable.
