We had another great visit to Casa Conde. Yes, the location is not in the best neighbourhood in San Jose but it isn't hell either! plus the staff at Casa Conde are THE BEST!!! The apartment like suites are nice and convenient. We'll see you next year. Gracias a todos!

I'll start postive. The rooms were nice, and the the food was good. Too bad in like a fort in a war zone. The place is surrounded by high walls with barbed wire all the way around. I felt safe there, but would not walk around the neighborhood. Also somehow my two rooms were reduced to one when I booked my sister to another room. $160.00 for one night. For that kind of money I could have stayed in a better area in an american style hotel. I will never go back to this hotel.

We spent two nights here before heading to other parts of CR. During the rest of our trip we continued to compare other hotels to Casa Conde.

Separate bedrooms with doors are excellent for families with small children; we could put the kid to bed and actually stay up a little after then. A full kitchen and in-room laundry facilities are both nice touches.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The on-site restaurant was nice, and had great food. The free breakfast is fantastic, with enough "normal" food to keep the kids happy, but still with some Gallo Pollo each morning to keep and adventurous dad happy.

The hotel grounds are filled with murals, stained-glass windows, and plants of all descriptions. The coffee cherries were turning red when we were there.

Yes, the neighborhood is sketchy, but you can't go anywhere in San Jose without a taxi anyway, so this hotel only adds a dollar or two to your fare to city attractions. The hotel grounds are safe and secure.

Only negative: Casa Conde, please get free wi-fi in the hotel. Yours was broken the whole time I was there (and apparently only works in the lobby, anyway). That would put you guys over the top.

If we ever go back, we will try to figure a way to base our entire stay out of this hotel.

This is a great hotel at a great price! The suites are a little on the small side, but what they lack in size they more than make up for with amenities, service and value. The kitchen is fully furnished with a full size oven, refrigerator and washer/dryer as well as many small appliances (blender, microwave, toaster, etc.). The staff is friendly and accommodating and the on site restaurant is simply wonderful. The menu has great variety and the breakfast buffet has everything from omelets and waffles to traditional Costa Rican food. It's located in a working class neighborhood which might concern some, but we went walking and never felt threatened. Downtown San Jose is only a 10 minute (about $6.00 USD) taxi ride away. If you want to get a feel for the real San Jose, this is the place to stay!
