The location (near the park, banks and restaurants) & the size of the hotel where just perfect for us. At first I found strange that the hotel did not have a pool, but I later realized you don't end up wishing to swim often in San Jose due to whether and temperature (at least when we where there in May). The quality of the food and the quality of the service where excellent and I would go back anytime if I needed to stay in San Jose a few days again on a long trip to Costa Rica. Clean, safe and comfortable in a perfect location; I warmly recommend this hotel.

I stayed for 4 nights with this hotel and I must say I loved Costa Rica even more because of this hotel.

First, the service was excellent. The receptionists provided excellent service - they were very helpful and accommodating. When I asked for a wake up call at 6:00 am for my early tour pick up, they didn't fail to wake me up.The breakfast was nothing out of ordinary but the kitchen personnel were very accommodating and friendly. The room service was very good too. Every time I came back to my room, I noticed the my room was cleaned very well and the cleaning lady even folded the clothes that I've scattered on the floor!

Second, the room I stayed has a modern interior, with an updated head board and wall paint. The bathroom is modern as well with an updated sink and shower. (Just want to give a heads up that the shower doesn't have curtains so the shower head needs to be shifted a little to the right.) I barely heard noise from the other occupied rooms so I slept pretty well considering (although can be heard when you're in the hallway). Oh another one is the view from my hotel was a bonus too (I've attached a pic below).

Third, the location is close to the town center which is a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Another plus is that there is pick-up at the hotel when you're going on a guided tour with a tour company e.g. grayline. As the hotel is in close proximity to the town center, there are a lot of fast food restos close by (5-minute walks) like subway, mcdonalds, etc.

Overall, I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. I definitely would recommend this to everybody. When I come back, I will definitely book this hotel again!

I checked out a month ago and I am still fuming about my experience! We chose the hotel because of its location in San Jose and reviews were decent. The hotel itself was in good shape with updated baths and a very comfortable bed. But the service experience makes me want to warn others to stay away!

I wanted to use the safe and was told that I would need to leave a $100 deposit for the key in case I lost it....never have heard of such a thing. At check out, was told that I could not leave the building until my room was inspected. I am a hotel executive and have stayed all over the world including 3 other hotels in Costa Rica and had never heard of such a thing!

After waiting 10 minutes and pacing the lobby as I was afraid of missing the flight, was told the room attendant would call down after she showed a room to potential guests. After another 20 minutes I approached again and the clerk basically said "what?" Turns out he forgot to tell me that I was free to leave!!! It was like being held hostage!!! Such a show of disrespect like I have never seen from a business. Don't stay here!!!

Although San Jose isnt the most beautiful city in the word to stay in, this hotel was very clean, and the staff were very friendly. Though the shower was kind of weird; it had no curtain, so water got onto the floor unless you tilted the head towards the wall. We stayed there for two nights in order to visit some central valley sites (Volcano Irazu and the rainiest part of CR, Tapanti National Park) and were very pleased with the accomodations (other than that shower). Recommended for short stays and business. The restaurant was closed for renovation for lunch/dinner, just had breakfast, which was solid and included in the rate, which was very inexpensive - about $85 a night.
