“Somewhat disappointing but not awful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

My son and I stayed at the Radisson for one night on our way back to the states. The hotel was nice enough, the restaurant was decent but over priced, as you would expect in a hotel not within walking distance to anything.
My main concerns were the following:
1. None of the windows on in our ground floor room were locked. As a single female traveling with a 13 year old this is a big concern.
2. They claimed to have an airport shuttle but instead put is in a "non-official" taxi that they called which charged more than the shuttle.

“Good Business Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2010

Have stayed here several times on business over the last few years. While not centrally located, it is a good well-run business Hotel. Good amenities including in-room Internet; business center and very responsive concierge. It is next to a large set of conference rooms and Casino.

Room are OK, appropriate for a business stay (comfortable beds; desk with work area; flat screen TV, etc.)

Bonus is access to a local Gym/Health Centre next door (weights, treadmills, elliptical, etc.) as well as outdoor pools.

They have a very good breakfast bar downstairs and a very good restaurant in the Hotel, though the food can become tedious after a longer stay.

The only downside is the area is a bit dodgy after dark; cabs a definite requirement if you want to venture to other local restaurants - of which there are several great ones around.

Overall a good place, would recommend again for business purposes.

“Whata relief!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2010

Clean, comfortable, civil hotel, a bit sprawling but so glad to be there after a long flight and for, a second time, three weeks travelling. It was my birthday the day of the second arrival and they had left cake and chocolate good wishes for me in our enormous room. Lovely bed linen. Excellent shop but not open often enough. Some of the best quality objects in Costa Rica. Buy when you see! Excellent breakfast, lots of hot water. Just great. It may be a chain and a bit lacking in character but frankly it was just what this doctor ordered for a total of three nights.

“Nice looking in not the nicest looking area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2009

I thought the hotel was very nice. The food, interior decorating, structure, pool, etc were all good/lovely. Once you step outside though you transport from lovely to ugly. The area isn't the greatest. I didn't find that part of San Jose worth visiting. As a hotel though it was perfect.

“Decent Lodging in San Jose”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2009

Stayed at the Raddison for 1 night only as the agency we went through required at least 1 night stay in San Jose. We had little interest in exploring San Jose extensively but the Raddison would be a good choice if that were your intention. It is close to downtown and there is easy access to major roads leading away from San Jose. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. El Pueblo is a short walk away for shopping & dining but we were advised to take a taxi back to the hotel after dark. The room and grounds were well maintained but the pool is being renovated and was closed as was the gym (we were there the week of Christmas). Breakfast was included and was quite good - buffet style with many choices.
