“What a View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

We originally reserved a room with shared bath, which was small and faced the street, and then splurged on a room facing the gorge. The rooms are medium size, clean, and lots of character. We had a small balcony from which to sip wine, and enjoy the view. it is centrally located in the town, and walking distance to all the sights. The breakfast is fantastic, and the dinner is great.

“A delightful B&B with a gorgeous view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2011

First and foremost, the hospitality and customer service are outstanding. Jose and Alcides at the desk, thank you again for going above and beyond to make our stay so enjoyable. Our room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable with a nice ceiling fan to keep us cool at night. It also had a small balcony with a beautiful view of the central valley lights. The breakfast area was charming as were the ladies who served it. And the food was very good. One evening we decided to have food delivered from a local restaurant. We had planned to eat in our room, but Jose arranged a lovely setting complete with a wonderful bottle of wine from their bar, and we ate at the dining table overlooking the beautiful lights of San Jose. It was a magical dinner. I'm so glad we didn't go out. Posada El Quijote is also within a short taxi drive to Mirador Tiquicia, a typical restaurant very, very high in the hills with a view that will drop your jaw. Definitely worth the taxi drive. Simply put, our short stay at Posada El Quijote was a wonderful way to begin our Costa Rican vacation, and we would highly recommend it. Also, they have a lovely welcoming committee of the four legged variety named Bobby and Max. They are friendly and sweet and made us feel right a home.

Room Tip: Get a room with a cental valley view

“Perfect place for us, 2 nights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2011

We flew from NYC to San Jose on an evening flight, so we stayed at Posada El Quijote the night of our arrival. We also stayed here for our last night, before flying out early the next morning. We traveled with our two young daughters, ages 8 and 6. This place was just perfect for us -- and the staff, especially Jose, were remarkable. Very helpful, very nice, very attentive. When we first made our reservation months ago, Jose helped us coordinate everything including a taxi from/to the airport, and he also lined up the car rental company to come to the inn for the dropoff/pickup of our rental car. Both nights we stayed there, we ordered in from local restaurants, and Jose set the dining room table for us to eat at and enjoy our meal as a family. The breakfast was excellent and is served in a cute, little dining area with several tables. The inn also has a self service beverage fridge which is on the honor system, which is a nice touch to be able to grab a cold Imperial when you feel like it, and not pay outrageous hotel prices! The inn was about a 20 minute ride from the airport and the taxi cost around $25 -- very reasonable and the drivers were right there on time and easy to find. This was a great place for us to start and end our trip, we would definitely stay here again. And the dogs (Max and Bobbi, and cute Sophie who sadly passed away during the week we were there) were fun to have around -- they were perfectly quiet and were well behaved, our girls loved having them there to pet and play with! And the view from the porch is lovely -- especially fun to see the new Costa Rica national soccer (football) stadium down below. Very comfortable, pleasant setting.

“Wonderful Inn and fantastic breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 March 2011

Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms were very comfortable and nice wood floors. Location is a $2-$3 taxi ride to Escazu. (only downfall) Great views from the lobby area (and some rooms) and lovely grounds. The included breakfast was delicious. Bacon, eggs (done perfect), toast, fried plantains, rice and beans, juice, coffee and wonderful bowl of fresh fruit. Yummy. Would stay here again.
Happy travels.

“Same OUTSTANDING service!”

We stayed here in 2007 on our way to Tortuguero National Park and this time we were going to Arenal Volcano.

It was like we were had never left - there is nothing like quite like being greeted by friendly familiary faces while travelling and as with last time José was a shining star. José once again ensured that our trip started and ended great as we used the Inn as our start and ending point of our trip. Simply put - José is a gem at the Inn - he helped plan the car rental, gave us advice on directions, etc, etc. Once again Dick, the property manager was there and entertained us with stories of Costa Rica and their three dogs (Max, Sofia and Bobbi) - very personal service. The rest of the staff (which unfortunately I didn't catch their names) were amazing as well. They set up the "private" dining room for both dinners for us and our last breakfast (it's not closed off just seats only a select number of people that's why I called it "private").

The included breakfast was great. However the Strawberry covered French Toast was UNBELIEVABLE - was it ever good and luckily for our return portion of the trip - it was also available to us so we had to have the French Toast after drooling over one person having it the initial day.

Looking for a perfect place to tour the area from ---- look no further
