“Parrot Bay Village .... addictive”
Parrot Bay Village is an an experience that calls you back for more.
If you want neon signs, swim-up bars in pools, and crowds of people competing for spots in the sun ........do not go to Parrot Bay.
If you want to feel like a friend of the family, have beaches to yourself, have access to world class fishing, meals cooked to order, know the staff in a day or two, associate with the most interesting guests, then this the place.
I've recently discovered PBV and have been fortunate to have made 2 visits. My wife and I were there in 2005 for fishing, and several side trips into the rainforest, and I returned with 3 fishing friends in 2006...... both trips have only made me want to go back for more.
The weather has always been in the 80's (F) and sunny, the cabinas are immaculate and set in a tropical garden, the open-air restaurant/bar is always comfortable, and the natural surroundings can surprise you with a bonus; scarlet macaws, too many birds to mention, igaunas, & monkeys.
I'm still trying to figure out why I've brought bug spray both visits and have never used it? We've hiked the rainforest, taken a horseback trip into the mountains, walked the beach in the evening, walked back into the mangroves to look for cayman ..... and have not seen any nuisance bugs!!!
Bottom line, If you like the big chain hotels this is not for you, if you enjoy the "real deal" with top of the line service, you have to visit Parrot Bay Village.
